Coding/OBDII Cable help near Seattle
Hey guys,
I know similar things are asked all the time, but I just was having trouble finding non-contradicting information. Just fyi, I have a 2011 e90 LCI, manual, with comfort access and idrive. First and foremost, the easiest/most preferable way to get this done would be to find a fellow e90 owner who has the cable, work out a time for me to roll over to you, either grab the cable from you for a quick recode, or if you've done it before, help me in changing a couple values. Should be quick and easy. I'm able to pay you for your time or for the rental of the cable. I don't want to spend $120 on a cable if someone a few miles away has it and the know how to get it done quickly. Any help would be appreciated. I don't really have a distance limit as I'm still breaking her in and don't mind the help to 1200 miles Now, looking at other posts asking for geographically based help, I don't expect to get any replies. So then I'm left with buying one new and have a couple questions. I would prefer to hear from actual 2011 e90 owners who have tried it successfully so I can help eliminate guesses/misinformation. I can find the OBDII DCAN cable like this one, http://www.one-stop-electronics.com/...&product_id=16, but it clearly states 2010 as the last year supported. Does anyone know if this cable will work on a 2011 LCI? There are cables on ebay that do say 2011 but they are ~$130 shipping from hong kong (month long wait = me dying on the inside) Are the cheaper cables that say they work through 2008 good enough? The ones through 2010? Thanks guys, I know theres lots of similar questions, just reading about this is resulting in information overload. I figure once I have the cable it will be a fairly simple process, but for that much cash and it only being used once, I want to make sure I get the right one. Thanks so much for any help! |

Was looking for the same solution. I hear Strictly BMW can do it for us... I think...and theres another forum member here in Seattle area by the name of "Yogi" is able to do coding. We tried to get a meet and code thing going but he never really responded so I doubt that. But yeah, try giving Strictly BMW a call. (425) 747-6044.
OR...If you do go the route in doing it yourself...then I'd be down to try and learn with you! |

Thanks for your reply atown88! I found that thread with yogi and sent him a PM as well. Hope to hear back in the next day or two. I called Strictly BMW and they said it would be $53 for simpler "key" programming and $108 (an hour of time) for the more tricky stuff. He said he wasn't sure what he'd be able to do on a 2011, but 2009- he's able to do everything, so I'd have to bring it by and actually plug it in to find out what would/wouldn't work. He also said the dealers should have this capability as well so I will call Seattle and Bellevue and see what they say. Just hoping to hear back from yogi

you can use my cable..
I'm in Seattle. The cable worked on my 2011 E90 335. I switched cars since then and have been a bit nervous about coding my '08. You can use it for free if i can watch you us NCSExpert. Shoot me a PM if interested

Peertwelve has graciously offered to let me use his cable, but was not able to successfully code his e90. Does anyone here have experience coding a 2011 e90? Are there specific firmware versions you need? Mine was manufactured 7/11, so I'm not sure what version I have, and what version I would need to be able to code. Does anyone know or know where to point me? Thanks for all the help!!

I found v41 daten files at http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1650569 and am downloading them now. Are these v41 files good for all different chassis including my e90? Also, is there a required version of NCSExpert to work on my car? I have version 3.1.0 from http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=480261 but am not sure if that's new enough to work for me. Thanks so much!

Hey guys,
Just finished downloading the 13 gigs of v41 daten files from: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1650569 But now that I can decompress it, I dont see an E90 folder The rar files contain: SGBDData-F001 SGBDData-F010 SGBDData-F025 SGBDData-K001 SP-daten-E36 SP-daten-E38 SP-daten-E39 SP-daten-E46 SP-daten-E52 SP-daten-E53 SP-daten-E60 SP-daten-E65 SP-daten-E70 SP-daten-E83 SP-daten-E85 SP-daten-E89 SP-daten-K1X SP-daten-K24 SP-daten-R50 SP-daten-R56 SP-daten-RR1 Will these files work for my 2011 E90? Or will I need to go hunt down a v41 that includes the E90 folder? Thanks for the help!

Here are the E89 (E90-E93) v41 daten files, zipped for your enjoyment, for anyone else who needs them. These are the files from http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1650569 just minus the stuff you dont need. This is just the E89 folder and should be everything needed to upgrade to v41 and use NCSExpert on 2011s.

Digital speedo coded
I was able to do the digital speed on dash mod tonight. The first time I tried it I had an old set of data files and it broke my cluster. So I reset the coding by pushing a blank .man file after updating with Phil's files. And now it works! Thanks Phil

So much win tonight
Thanks to peertwelve, his cable, and his reproducible setup, I was able to successfully code the following on my 2011.5 335xi:
Windows/Roof close with fob Doors auto unlock on shutoff Windows continue auto-up when door is opened Removed iDrive disclaimer using https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?...CPqY7sEC#gid=0 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=480261 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=451145 AND DVD in motion using https://www.rapidshare.com/files/457...WCODING_v2.pdf DVD in motion was actually pretty straightforward and I used method 1 in the pdf. I found for the NFRM module, to do the window auto up, I needed EDIABAS 7.2, so just to reshare To update your ediabas: 1. Download the following file: ftp://beemer.kicks-ass.org/INPA-EDIA...ABAS_7_2_0.rar 2. Make a complete copy of your existing C:\EDIABAS folder into something like C:\EDIABAS.old - just in case. Ensure that you also save a copy of the C:\EDIABAS\BIN\EDIABAS.INI file - you'll need it for step 4. 3. OVERWRITE the files and directories in your C:\EDIABAS folder with the ones in the RAR file. (I pasted the new ediabas folder onto the old one and chose merge and then overwrite all in win7) 4. Replace the newly extracted EDIABAS.INI file in C:\EDIABAS\BIN with the original version you saved in step 2. I'll zip up all the files I used and upload them and do a simple write up in the next day or two for anyone else looking.
