BMW UK Senior management and some legal advice...

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone would know the names of some of the senior management people at BMW UK (eg Head of Sales, Head of customer services, After sales Director etc...) you can message me if you want to keep it private..

and I would also like to know, if I were to take legal action because my car cannot be repaired satisfactorily under warranty, who do I chase...

a) the dealership (BMW TRING) where I bought the car from.
b) the dealership (Coopers Cobham) where I got the "repairs" done.
c) BMW UK as eventually, it is them at the top...

Thanks

Is it a new car warranty, approved used car warranty or extended warranty?

Are you the first owner of the car?

I've read a few of your posts regarding the issues you have experienced and personally, before going any further I would probably contact BMW UK for advice.

For reasons I don't understand Cobham seem to have completely failed to diagnose and cure your problem, despite having the car for extended periods of time.

This issue could be a technical one, but it could also just be the fact that Cobham have screwed up.

Do you actually know what is causing the fault at this stage? Is there a dispute or if the issue simply that they seem unable to fix it?

Going by Paul's experience (pjs), according to BMW head legal boff, BMW UK Ltd. neither manufacture cars nor sell them. The independent dealer, according to BMW, is the one that grants you the 3 year warranty so legally, your dispute is with the selling dealer and no one else.

Obviously, pressure on BMW UK Ltd from you and the dealer will be needed to get a satisfactory outcome for you.

Thanks for your comments guys....

NFS, I am still under the approved used car warranty and I am the second owner.

No formal dispute at this stage, but I'm looking to start one! as this is becoming extremely frustrating now.

Alan QS, this is what worries me now, BMW UK and dealership putting the blame on each other....

simple example...when I asked for a loan car to BMW UK " sir, loan cars are at the discretion of the dealership..."

now they seemed to be taking the same approach to every issue....

dealership saying its up to bmw uk and bmw uk saying its up to dealership....

Have you contacted BMW Customer Services? That should be your first port of call.

well ...all they wanted me to do is book the car in....But this time, I'm want to make it clear that its their final chance to resolve this...

and so that they understand that its their final chance, I will try to have trading standards/ consumer direct included in all my communications with the dealership.

Having had a dispute with the dealer I bought my car through and getting things sorted BMW UK will wash there hands of it as its a used car. Unless its a manufacturing fault and you bought the car new they have somewhere around 0 interest in giving you much help.

Your best bet is the dealer who sold it to you as your contract is with them.

So, what's the purpose for the existence of BMW UK if they do diddley-squat? They're neither manufacturers nor sellers. What exactly are they?
