2012 - When will you buy your summer wheels?

For those purchasing new wheels for the summer, are you going to wait another month or so before purchasing/ordering or even later? Or now?

Well, actually I am going to buy complete wheel/tire/tpms as a package when I get my returns.

I literally look at wheels everyday... I still can't decide.

CSL wheel? Spokes? Concave? Lip? Black? Gunmetal? 18s? 19s?

I did to pick

Hahah! I am in the same boat. I've been looking at wheels every day as well, but I nailed it down, finally! I am sticking with my decision...

My recommendations: stick with 18ths. If you can afford it, get forged 3-piece wheels (that's what I am doing) with stepped lip. Stepped lips are usually stronger than flat lips.

CSL -> played out and a total pain in the ass to clean.

If you can, find 3-piece wheels that have hidden hardware. You REALLY don't want to clean 20+ bolts and bolt holes per wheel.

Good luck!

I live in Chicago. Winter time here. Can't run summer tires and nice wheels when the roads are encrusted with salt!

The earliest I can even begin to think about installing summer wheels/tires is late April and after we've had some decent amount of rain fall to wash the salt off the streets.

+1, March, when I get my tax refunds.

Hopefully, there is also a deal.

My lean towards wheels are 19x8.5 and 19x9.5. I am still debating whether I want the headaches of 19s... I travel for work so I hate to have to drive into Wash DC and rip my new wheel apart - then again, not like an 18" wheel is going to do much better... tire prices are a wash, so that isn't really a factor.

I agree CSL-style wheels are already played out - i still LOVE the lip look, I don't care that concave is "in" right now (even tho there are some amazing concave wheels out and I do like the look)

I lean towards a muti-spoke whee, black face w/ machined/brushed/chrome lip. I have a jet black e90, and I dont care, the black on black look is still so clean to me. I agree that if I got black wheels without the lip, cars look like the batmobile.. but just that added lip for a little contrast really sets the look off IMO.

I am not the "biggest" fan of the step lip - i do like the LM wheels out there, it just makes the wheels a little smaller than they should look and would 100% have to go with 19s then. However someone on here has a black e90 sedan w/ black LM wheels and looks AMAZING.

so, long story short, I still dont know what wheels i am buying

I know about this car. I drooled over it myself. Very soon my e90 will get some LM5 love.
