Best car chase films

what do you rekon?

i am pretty crazy about motors as you before many times witnessed me babling on etc!

but what films have the best car stunts chases in etc??

have watched those furious films back inthe day and didnt think much to them even back then when i was like 17 when i was into being a boy racer etc

proof of my boy racer adolescence

a 1.1sx

another fiesta, but an xr2i this time with a stage 2 engine

followed by my last boy racer fiesta which was a fire breathing 230bhp RS turbo (only 900kg too) so she went quite well

one car i always wanted but never got in the end, and now wont as i have the 335d is

the escort cosworth great car...

now the only films i can think of with some good chases/races are

island which was really good with some suped up supercar cadilac at the end

and the french movies taxi, not the american one havent seen it but the frenched one rocked for stunts etc. the black evos the baddies had were ace:rocks:

any films anyone can reccomend with good car scenes??

thanks

Carlos

Ronin is superb for car chases, some truly cracking driving in that.

The Bourne trilogy has some pretty tidy stuff too.

James bond is normaly pretty good up until the driving is overshaddowed by a stupid gadget. The earlier ones were more about driving - check out Octopussy {I think} for possibly the best drift ever in an Alfa GTAV6 and The Spy who loved me for a very simple (but amazingly dramatic) overtake of one lorry, heading straight for another.

Obviously Bullitt ranks up near (if not at) the top.

Too many films ruin plot/excellent driving by doing totally unbelievable things and expecting the audience to follow them (without even being ironic) - Gone is 60 seconds (jump in Elleanor) is a prime example - some great cars and fun driving, entertaining stuff, totally ruined by 'that' jump.

Any film about motorsport (unless factual) is total gargbage. The 'hero' always gets relegated to last place with two laps to go, has some sort of epiphony, finds 3 extra inches of throttle pedal travel that weren't previously there, and miracualously makes up 15+ places in 3 laps - (See days of thunder, driven etc...)

I enjoyed 'The Transporter' films. Car chases were totally stupid, but entertaining.

The french version of taxi was very cool. I saw it at the cinema with my wife who was totally unimpressed. Given that it was produced by Luc Besson and starred it had to be good

Opening scene:

This is the best bit:

The car chase in Ronin is also pretty stunning:

C'etait une rendezous - don't watch the film - just this shot:

BMW Films -- "Star" has to be my favorite. Although I'm still not sure how he unlatches the door while pulling up to the red carpet at the end...

Ahh, Clive Owen at his best (he should have been Bond )

That short film is quality, some awesome drifts. Watched a short docu on the making of it, was v interesting seeing how the car was made to move realistically on all the dollies etc

I quite like the bit in Swordfish when travolta is ragging the TVR Tuscan (one of my favourite cars) around.

how about the Fast & Furious movies?

IMHO No1 was the best and got progressively less good, although both 2 & 3 have some good stuff in it.

I am so hurt!!!

LOL - I agree that it is a pretty crap film but the car chases were entertaining. The guy in question is Jason Statham I think.
