Is it necessary to register battery?

I have 07 335i coupe and I got the warning that my battery level is low so I called bmw of bellevue and they said it's $570 to replace the battery and register it.
I don't wanna pay $570 for the battery and was wondering anyone replaced the battery without registering it. If so, is there any issues?
Thank you in advance.

i'm debating about this too. my dealer quoted me $367 to replace and register the 90Ah 720CCA battery. I would do it myself and register it with some cables and available software you can find on the forum but I've read that some have found out that late 2006 and early 2007 cars can't be registered by bmw or aftermarket software. I wish I have more confirmation on this. Seems like quite a few 06 and 07 batteries have gone bad.

btw my dealer currently has a $65 off coupon so I might just bite the bullet.

Got mine replaced by Budget Batteries at Burien for $140 earlier this year. Never got it registered and it has been working just fine.

Yeah you need to register/ program it. Or you take the chance of it exploding. Search for threads this has happened to multiple members.
