PSS 245/35/18 square on E91 xDrive

I've searched here and run the tire calculators first.

Is it practical fitting a wide and square setup on the E91 LCI xdrive platform?

OEM tires are 225/45/17, 235 seems a common upgrade. Will 245s fit without rubbing, especially in the front?

I want to stay with a square setup to tame understeer and to rotate the tires. I want to go as wide as practical without requiring bodywork or other mods.

Particulars:

- Car is 2011 E91 328i xdrive sport wagon slightly lowered on TCK coilovers / camber plates
- Current OEM setup: Conti RFT 225/45/17 square on 8Jx17 ET:34 style 285 rims
- New rim size: Apex EC-7 18x9 ET31 rims
- Will mount Michelin PSS summer tires (size???)

Will 245/35/18 square fit without rubbing?

Thanks!

Our cars are designed for staggered setup nicely.
I was thinking of going of 245 square 3 yrs back.
I don't remember but 245 on front was not encouraging, some ppl had rubbing issues( of course depending on lowering n wheel offset).
I would recommend going staggered with standard upgrade of 235 front / 265 rear.
Staggered looks really nice with 265 on rear.

Subscribed. I'm running 225/40/18 - 255/35/18 on my non-LCI 2007 e91 xdrive, and am looking to do something similar to Tetsuo above, i.e. a square 245 setup. Is there a major difference in how wide of a front tire you can put on a non-LCI vs an LCI?

Has anyone confirmed 245/35/18 square fitting without rubbing? I'm thinking about trying in on a E90 LCI X-drive. 18x9 ET35.

There is a pair of nearly shot Eagle GT's in that size on my local craigslist. They're cheep enough to buy just for test fit, but I'd like more feedback before ordering the 18x9 square wheels. I would go 18x8 and 235, but the the wheels I want are out of stock in that size with no ETA. I don't like stretch and wouldn't run 235 on a 9" wheel.

I'm running a 255 35/18 squared setup on 18x8.5 et 35 wheels. Lowered on coils to about a one finger gap and experience no rubbing in the front.

Follow-up

Apex Arc-8 17 x 9 ET:30 installed with Michelin PSS 245/40/17 on my 2011 LCI e91. The car is mildly lowered on TCK coil overs with -1.9 and -1.6 degrees camber fr and rear. The fitment is just fine. No rubbing, even after a couple very exuberant track days.

Believe it or not, a 255 tire looks likely to work with a square setup. Will find out soon since the Michelins are wearing as expected from tracking

I have the same rims and 255 square is no problem for me.

Your's is pre-LCI, correct? I was led to believe the rear fitment is tighter than front because LCI (my car) has 8mm less clearance in the back.

My only minor regret is 17" wheels are more challenging for fitment of brakes. I chose 17 over 18" because my winter rims are the OEM BMW 17s that came on the car, and I expected to burn through tires more frequently on the track. I hope that with improving driver proficiency (me), the tire wear will be less.

Bottom line -- great to hear that 255 works! Those will go on next when it's time to replace my 245s

I have 245-40-18 on front with 18x8.5 et35 and no rubbing. Your wheels are et31, which would be perfect - 4mm more clearance from strut. Mine are on stock struts - not sure if your coil overs are wider than stock struts.

Hey guys I was thinking about running a square set up with 245/40/17 MPSS all around my vehicle. My rims are the standard sport package rims and tires currently using 225/45/17 in front and 255/40/17 rear on Michelin Pilot Sports A/S 3s. My rims are 8in in the front and 8.5 in the back.

Do you think I'll have any problems running MPSS 245/40/17 on an 8in wheel?
Every tire sizing calculator says it works but I want everyones 2cents...

How will these new tires and the change in size affect my overall ride? Handling, stiffness, acceleration, turn in etc
