so are they going to offer two different model's for the 335 couples?

335i and the 335is? The "IS" having the upgraded performance and body kit, etc. The "IS" also get's the new N55 single turbo engine with a bazillion coolers and the 7 second NOS button lol? I read into the new N55 and they added the Valve tronic cause the N54 for some reason couldn't work properly.

Also, page 2 someone mentioned that modding the new N55 won't be possible? Didn't people also state that about the N54 before it debuted? Also, wouldn't having a single turbo be easier to control and power/upgrade?

p.s. car looks clean IMO, nothing a few debadging won't do..

SORRY FOR ALL THE QUESTIONS!

What I meant was the motoring press, besides it's clear that this car was designed to target the S4/S5 and serve as something between the 335i and M3 like the S4 between the A4 and RS4.

The only two things I like about this car are the inclusion of an oil temperature gauge in the instrument cluster, and the fact it's more powerful

Though what I don't understand is that the N55 is being phased out?

Except for the excess badgery, I love this car. Yes, lack of LSD is a serious shortcoming, but that can be fixed aftermarket. And yes, a more sporting suspension w/ non-rfts would have been nice, but again, that can be fixed via aftermarket mods, and to individual spec.

I initially choked at the pricing - $7k??? The cost differential between the parts is surely less than 1k. But the development and certification costs must be substantial. The great thing about BMW packages is the thorough and complete engineering. There is a reason for the stiffer engine mounts. Etc. etc.

Sure, if you have the current N54 you can slap on a tune for a $k and think you are more clever than the BMW engineers that put this iS together. I wonder how Machiavellian the strategy planning was that provides the iS in concert with the alternative, very difficult to tune, N55... Of course, this may make our old, tunable N54s increasingly valued by performance-minded Bimmerphiles.

In the end, many of us that have essentially modded our cars to create our own individualized versions of the iS should feel somewhat gratified that BMW agrees with our choices. The iS is the car that I originally wanted when I got my first build week 335. I have spent $ and a few skinned knuckles (never seem to have mech gloves when I need them...) to make it so, and then some.

Is the iS good enough to warrant running out and trading an old 335 for? Not for me. I will wait for the Z2 or the turbo M3. Would I recommend the iS to a close friend in the market for a new car? Absolutely.

Curious issue re: the manual tranny. Waiting to see final specs. If offered, will it be hamstrung like the manual version of the BMW Perf engine tune kit?

This car (335iS) is the only '335' that will get the twin turbo N54, as the powerful exclusive motor.

all other get the single single turbo engine.

So if you want twin turbo, you are now going to have to fork over the extra cash.

I am quite fond of the exterior looks of the car although I find the 335is badging on the interior of the car hilariously tacky. Why doesn't BMW just put a huge vinyl 335is on the windshield while they're at it? But seriously now...

I am confused on suspension.

I was under the impression that all 3-series BMW's had the same suspension; the sport package only added bigger wheels. Is this correct? So when they say the 335is shares the same suspension with the 335, that means all non-M3 3 series have the same suspension parts?

Are those front grills matte black or gloss black?
It looks like gloss black but it's hard to tell for sure from those pictures

Would this kill your warranty?
