Shops in the far west burbs of Chicago?
Im in Naperville and I had a half engine light pop up yesterday. I dont know if its the HPFP. I just had it replaced a few weeks ago. There is no long cranks or ses . Does anyone now of a shop around Naperville that I can get a BT or Ct? I need to know whats up before I bring it into the BMW dealer. I still have the warranty.

I went to Fluid yesterday and Mike hooked it up. OJ said they couldnt read it. Something about the new software. I do have Mods and he said he cleared the codes. I was wondering if there was anyone else. I know Eurocharge closed shop...

You could try getting a hold of VS then. They recently bought some new fancy schmancy Autologic tool.

The car should be able to make it here. Your car is in limp mode right now. Do you have a tune on the car and what other mods do you have?

Is your car permanently in limp mode? If it's still "resetting" (Ie no limp mode after you turn the engine off and back on) then it should make it BG no prob, but if it's constantly in limp mode after restarting and normal driving then I'd be more careful...
FWIW my pump is slowly failing...I can induce it into limp mode pretty easily (put it in a high gear and floor it just before my kickdown switch) but if I'm just normal driving or even going for larger throttle openings in the correct gear it doesn't seem to affect it...so unless your car is defaulting to limp mode (1/2engine) I would consider it ok to drive normally |

I have a JB3 and DCI. I just had my HPFP replaced a month ago. I am not having long cranks or a SES light. When I start in the morning its ok for a little while then the half yellow engine pops up. I have been pulling over and restarting the engine. Would it matter if I take the mods out? Also I am thinking maybe I in 89oct accidently. Would that matter?

I was running Map 5. I switch it to Map 0 this morning. I just got the new 7/4 software chip for the Jb3 in the mail too. Is it worth going to Buffalo Grove? I couldnt make it till the weekend. Maybe its better to take the Mods out tonight and Set an appt with BMW?

You don't have to necessarrrrrrily pull it over to restart it.
If you hit the start/stop button three times while in motion, the engine will shut off. Then simply hit it again to start it back up. A bit dangerous? maybe. Saves time? definitely |

I would remove your mods and either have them tow it or see what happens when your car is bone stock

That's the Problem. I work downtown and commute to Napertucky which gets me in at 6pm everyday. The closest shop to help me is Fluid and they couldnt help me. So......I can
A. take out the Mods and see if that works B. Drive to VS on Sat. (How much would they charge me for the BT scan)? C. Bring it in to Bill Jacobs BMW ( SA-Ryan Burton) D. Have someone Steal it and burn it (collect insurance $) E. None of the above |

Pretty sure VS is closed saturdays...I'd take the mods out and see how it affects it...if it's a bad pump or injectors or something the mods will have to come out regardless to take to the dealer

Since your only tune and dci I'd just de-mod and dealer it, you're under warranty. If you cleared the codes, your trip there may be pointless though. Id bring back to stock and try to replicate the limp mode, then bring in.
I'd also invest in a CanTool form Terry, $50 |

1.Take your mods off to see if that is what is causing your problems, sometimes it could be a mixture of the tune and gas that could cause the problem b.You can make an appointment with VS and they might help you out talk to Matt who posted in this thread c.Take it to whoever you usually take your car too and see if they can help you out after you take the parts off d. stole what? |
