Sad news- my old 335d stolen :(

A few of you may have seen my 335d m3 replica. Well I sold it four weeks ago and the new owner rung me to say it had been stolen from the Leicester area at 11:30 pm Sunday evening.

Apparently no glass at all. A neighbour saw it drive off. He has spoken to bmw and they say a sept 2006 car shouldn't be at risk to their security floor but sounds like they are covering themselves to me!

Unlikely to re surface again, but if seen/ offered parts pm me and I can pass info to the chap.

05 and 06 cars are just as culpible. The dealer you spoke to if they meant that is a clueless f*cking moron.

But was the OBD port not secured? On such a noticable car I think it's mad that nothing had been done to secure the port?

Oh well - at least it's not your problem... Terrible for new owner though..

That's what I thought. I didn't speak to dealer btw. This was what te new owner ( ex) told me, but i do recall they have claimed this previously. Only 2007-2011 cars?

No obd fix during my ownership. Disclock, padlocked garage, and 2 cars blocking it in at all times. I live in rural Suffolk, and never left anywhere else.

Ahhh... so sad to see such a nice car going this way.

I cannot understand why BMW is not admitting that 05/06 car can be stolen in a similar way as 07 and onward.

New owner should have relocated OBD port.

New owner was a dealer who had re advertised for sale. When speaking to him he now he is only just aware of the security issue. Ive got to admit when he came to view it my opening line wasn't, 'so have you heard how often these are gettin nicked!'

I did mention the security issue but didn't labour the point!

Nick what mileage did it have? I saw an EXACT same version of your car / perhaps even yours, for sale on ebay VERY recently but it's no longer there!! Pics were taken in the snow and it was the EXACT same set of wheels you had man!

So sorry to hear that

I dont blame you mate. Hardly a 'selling point'.
Doubt anybody would fill it up with petrol, surely it still sounds like a diesel?

I was phoned by BMW UK after my old 318 Sport Plus was in for a brake fluid service and asked them about the security problem with the OBD port.

They acknowledged the problem and did say it needed fixing.

I then told her about my new 330D 07 plate. I gave her the registration number and was told it didn't affect that year and model. It was 2008 onwards.

Do I need to worry?????

You would have thought a dealer would know about the OBD issue.
