Options for replacing CDC?
Ok, so please excuse me if this has been discussed elsewhere. I just went through all the searches and forums and even google, and came up with no useful answer.
The thing is, my car has the CDC in the trunk, it plays mp3 and all. But long time ago I got bored of burning CDs, specially because 730 Mb per CD (even if you have 6 + 1 at the head unit) really fill up quickly. And it's a pain to add just one more file to it. Additionally the darn CDC is now starting to skip and even freeze windows-style (and there are no ctrl-alt-del keys!). So I guess it's time to do something about it. I've read about the Dension thingy and some other similar solutions, but I want something more modest. I already have bluetooth capability built in, and I don't care about Ipod/Iphone interface. I just want to be able to play mp3 from a USB device and control it from the steering wheel/radio buttons. I thing there must be some adaptor that plugs into the wires currently used by the CDC and trick the head unit into thinking a CDC is still connected. If it has been discussed before, please point me in the right direction as obvioulsy I have not been capable of finding it. Last edited by Castle; 07-18-2012 at 11:32 AM.. |

The Dension is about the only option I know of. I have one and it is great. I've got a 64GB thumb-drive plugged in and it's more than enough MP3s for the rest of my life.
The Dension uses the CDC menus to great effect, so much so that you forget that it is doing this all with MP3 ID3 tags. I've never plugged in an ipod to the other jack and it doesn't have the bluetooth module so I can't comment on that aspect. |

Ok. what model of Dension do you have?. How much did you pay for it? As I said, I don't need the Bluetooth option or the Ipod jack. |

Dension gateway 500 or mobridge
Do a search for Dension gateway 500 there are quite a few threads
that mention it . Only a few cater manufacturers to the the Most Bus architecture that the German car makers use . |
