Fuel Pump Problem Percentage???
There has been a lot of talk about the fuel pump promblem but I was wondering what the real scope of the problem is?
I have a 45k lease so I will always be under warranty but will EVERY fuel pump be a problem at some point?? 10 percent? My car is working great but I have less than a 1000 miles on it so far. Doese any one have any real data instead of this endless anectdotal evidence? Let's get some real numbers here so I can have a accurate sense of the problem. Thanks in advance, Bob |

That information is not available online and for sure not published. I'd not worry about things that have not happened.

Yes, I have read a fair number of other threads. Sorry if this too obvious for you. Perhaps since you have a good idea of the answer you can share it with me and those who are insterested?

The answer is a lot... im being serious too, a lot of cars have failing fuel pumps...and many more are gonna fail before it's all said and done... "Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst" - Morgan Freeman in (Deep Impact)

That's cool. I'm leased so I am not really too worried about it. If it fails I hope I get an all wheel drive loaner in the winter. |

And don't be too quick to believe percentages you may find on the www. Remember, 73% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

I guess one could say "well it's covered under warranty so I don't care" but of course that is not too comforting when you will have your kids in the back seat trying to get across an busy intersection and the fuel pump dies..
Actually this brings up a good question - is this fuel pump business typically an instant failure and shut down of the car, or something that degrades and you can see it coming?? Thanks |
