I currently have the Stoptech BBK, no rust yet.

I will be purchasing new aero rotor rings, so I am going to try and keep them rust free. A lot of my friends have rust on their's. I have even seen rust on brand new BMWs like the new M5 at my dealership. It has rust?!

How can I prevent it other than washing it weekly.

Any care methods or preventative things?

I've been trying to figure out the same thing. Mine are drilled and slotted so I get rust in the vanes and holes where the pads don't get contact. I was thinking of just painting those spots.

I don't know that there is anything you can do. It's simple chemistry, when water contacts iron the iron pulls the oxygen atom from the water and creates iron-3 oxide (rust). Daily driving will knock it off though.

Rust or Oxide is a protective provided it gets a chance to get deep enough before you run out of materials. (Read thick enough). In fact oxidisation methods either electrical (anodised) or chemical are sometimes employed. Unfortunately low carbon steel rust is water soluble oxide and doesn't really for a full barrier which means it can penetrate over time. Washing aggressively will just hurry the process along so suggest you stop that.

The pad contact area will always rust after a wash or an heavy rain. There's nothing you can do to prevent it. The good thing is that the next time you brake it'll get all shiny again.

The rest of the rotor hub and hat can be painted.

The small gap between the hat and the actual rotor will rust too, and cannot effectively be painted. However it is small, and should not be noticeable if you let brake dust attach to it so it becomes black rather than rust color.
