Time for a Clutch

Okay, so after 280,000 it's time for the clutch. Been pricing parts. I'm generally a OE (original BMW parts kind of guy), but I'm including a new flywheel. So the parts difference from on-line sources is $290 between OE from a local TradeMotion dealer and a Sachs clutch kit and Sachs flywheel at RockAuto. The overall Sachs price is $290 less expensive. Anyone know if Sachs is the original equipment manufacturer for the E90 (N52) clutch or is it Beck/Arnley, or LUK? I can't find it anywhere.

Thanks in advance

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Sachs makes good stuff. LUK has been the OEM for many newer BMWs but I wouldn't hesitate to use Sachs.

All the clutch kits I've seen are LUK or Sachs. According to Turner, LUK is OEM. I like Sachs too. The flywheel is the kicker. BMW OE is $995. Turner's is $514, but doesn't say who the manufacturer is. Rock Auto has Sachs parts; their flywheel is $646.

decisions decisions...

Thanks for the input.

Light weight single mass conversion?

280K is impressive for the original clutch! You won't see many AT's last that long...

I've thought about it. Read up on some of it. With the fuel injection programming I think it would make it worse for daily driving, not that I do much of that...

Considering the mileage, I just want to get decent parts for the least amount of money; you never know when something may let go. Or any small accident like a deer or parking lot hit, totals the car.

I put clutch in mine I think the parts (inc throw out bearing) were a little less than 300 total.

I actually got a price online, but pep boys of all places matched for the same part, and saved me on the shipping.

Did you check FCP Euro?
