Anyone know of a good independent shop in the Springs that can do an oil change. I am almost due for one and I really don't want to go to the dealer. Any info would be appreciated.

I haven't done an oil/filter at German Motorsports on 8th street, but I've used them for bigger stuff on my old Audi and they did a very good job.

I just moved here and it feels like they just released the first Fast & Furious with the all awful rice burners out here. Does anyone else notice this?

Ha! I haven't noticed that at all (and I've been here 12 years). Perhaps it varies on the part of town you are in?

BTW - welcome!

I live by UCCS just west of Union. Who knows haha. Any recommended routes for a nice cruise? I haven't really put my car to the ropes yet.

My name is also Rich. Rich's 4 Life man.

Likely just the younger crowd around UCCS. I got my masters there about 10 years ago - don't recall lots of rice burners there then, but things change

My favorite drive is highway 24 west to 67 south in to Cripple Creek. Great drive during the summer and then in to the fall when the Aspens are changing.

And nice name! What color is your bimmer? I'll give you a wave when I see you around town. You should try to make it out to the RM BMWCCA bimmer burger nights this summer. Good time.

I also noticed this a few years ago when I moved into the area. Depends which part of town, but definitely more than I was used to in Denver.

I'm not in CO springs as often nowadays.

Nice - we are getting quite the representation in the Springs now. Definitely check out the Rocky Mountain BMWCCA:

http://www.rmcbmwcca.org/

There is a bimmer burger night coming up this week. If the weather is OK, I'll be there.

For Colorado Springs (they have them in Denver too), they are:

Colorado Springs Area
•Thursday April 18th, 2013 at 6:00pm Location: 868 Garden of the Gods Rd
•Wednesday May 15th, 2013 at 6:00pm Location: 4457 Austin Bluffs
•Thursday June 20th, 2013 at 6:00pm Location: 1465 Jamoree Dr
•Saturday July 20th, 2013 at 6:00pm Location: 955 Academy Blvd
•Thursday August 8th, 2013 at 6:00pm Location: 5250 New Car Dr
•Thursday September 12th, 2013 at 6:00pm Location: 1465 Jamboree Dr

And you don't have to be a member of BMWCCA - just show up, have a burger and talk with other BMW fans. Sometimes they are light (5-10 people), other times there is hardly any parking and there are some sweet cars. I usually bring my 4yo (soon to be 5 ) son, and sometimes my wife and daughter (but they aren't quite as car crazy ).

So does anyone have any thoughts on a good program from the car? Cobb AP, Vishnu, JB4? I'm currently all stock looking to get an intake and programmer for first mods.

I'm running Cobb - love it. I'm only on the Stage 1 sport map, but the difference is amazing. In fact, I just took my car in today to have the recall done, so it was a simple uninstall last night and then I'll re-install tonight. If you go with Cobb, I'd recommend an intercooler before an intake (most of their bigger maps require the intercooler first). Since we have relatively easy access to E85, you could also start looking at their race maps.

Having said that, I also had a BMS Powerbox on my previous E90 (330i) and the install was also easy - more complicated than the Cobb, but pretty simple nonetheless. I believe the JB4 is even easier (more plug and play versus swapping wires from wiring harnesses like the PBX). I've heard good things on the JB4 (and the Procede). Can't go wrong with any of them.
