GVA walnut blast/intake valve cleaning

Hi,

Anyone know of a place that'll do this for cheap (compared to stealership that will charge $1k+)? Closest place i know is BMW of Bellvue in Washington, they charge around $400 tax in, but havent got around to ask them if the do walnut blasting or something else (walnut blast is the way to go).

Anyone? Thanks!

I have done the walnut blasting service at BMW Bellview. Car felt great afterwards. I recommend these guys. Good experience overall. One tip... If your used to your navigation like I am make sure to book a BMW loaner with navi as most of them don't have it.

I think all Canadian dealers will charge $1k+. I am sure they do a good job, but then again, most places south side gets the job done half price. So thats why i am asking to see if anyone have experience with any Indy that offers the service here in Vancouver area. If not, then i'll have to go the Bellvue for the job which is a bigger hassle.

I have been unable to track down a local indy shop that offers the walnut blasting service.

Last time I checked with Autowest it was around $800+tax.

Yes sadly that's probably what i'll end up doing as well. Since it is basically half the price almost. Please update here if anyone finds a place that does it for cheaper than the stealerships!! Thanks!

Ya, make sure you book ahead of time and make sure you get a loaner car (preferrably with nav if you're using that =D) It just a hassle going to the states just for that tho, i normally never travel south especially this past year since our currency plummeted (or shall i say went back to more normal exchange rates since our parity bliss xD).

Hi, I guess by parts in you mean the blasting media and everything thats needed for the job. (So all i do is drop off car + pay you for the job xD). Technically i don't believe we have any new parts to put in no?

That's good to know that we have someone who can do it locally (richmond, the heart of BMW ville lol) at a better price. I am assuming you guys have previous experience and have worked on direct injection cars before as well? Thanks!!

Its a set of profile gasket for the intake manifold need to be replaced. Yes, we had done it before. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Performance One is a part of Auto West Group.

thanks

A bit OT, but I find it interesting that you guys are a subsidiary of a BMW Dealer, yet do tuning and mods to cars, which void warranties! A bit of a conflict there?

I guess the dealers want to get in on the tuning and mods action, but it's a bit of a "have your cake and eat it too" situation IMO. On the one hand, they're happy to install mods and tunes, and on the other hand, they'll say "sorry, your warranty is void" when you go in?

I presume at the very least, you wouldn't pass info to your sister company (the dealer) as far as mods you install for people, but that still makes me uncomfortable if I was to get warranty voiding mods installed there, knowing the relationship, I have to say...
.

Usually if you install high end performance parts at Performance One, I believe the mods won't damage your vehicle to a point that requires warranty work. Think about it this way, your slapping some $7000 exhaust on a brand new $100,000 M6 grand coupe, in no way the owners gonna need warranty work in the next 4 years due to the exhaust. However, I don't think any of the members here would slap a $7000 exhaust on a 2006 335i and go back to AutoWest to claim a blown engine. So, you see why performance One won't worry too much about mods ? Not only is AutoWest opening up Performance one, BJ Autohaus original plans was to be a performance shop as well, but plans changed due to the change of market preference.

Then you clearly don't know how dealers void warranties due to mods they find if they can say there's even remotely a chance they're related.

You're living in a dream world if that's how you think it works in real life, and please don't quote the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act either...
