Exclamation Received Quote: 2012 335is Coupe / Your Thoughts!

Hello Everyone,

I received a quote from my dealer and want to compare against what others have paid for. I'll check with other dealers this weekend.

The details are as follows:

2012 335is - $48,110
Manual Gearbox (am i making a mistake by not going DCT?)
Premium Package - $1,820
Comfort Key-less - $455
Heat Front Seats - $685
Navigation - $1,955
BMW Assist - $590
HK Surround Sound - $795
BMW Apps - $230
Metallic Paint - $500
Dakota Leather - $1,320
Destination: $895
MACO Fee: $400 (What's this?)

Quoted Price: $56,000 before tax and registration.

Can I do better on pricing? Keep in mind that I have yet contacting other dealers and want to know ballpark pricing expectations.

Thanks!

My car was 63k I negotiated 58k str8 up. And DCT is fast and responsive until the point where you start modding than your car than you'll hate it. Stick to the manual, its way more fun than dct.

Anyone else? I assume that the price will vary amongst options.

reasonable price.

I had an 08 6speed for 3 years and now my 335is w/ dct. I don't miss the 6spd, i'd never drive an auto but DCT i can definitely live with. (This is my first automatic and i loved driving manual, even in miami traffic)

The only thing is if you decide to mod it beyond a basic tune then you will run into issues with the tranny slipping.

Good point. I currently have a tuned DSG GTI, and that can get a bit boring, although it's the best auto/manual setups I have ever used. The RDX, on the other hand, is just a gear changing slushbox for long trips with the family.

As far as pricing goes, it is based off of "invoice" pricing, but on BMWCONFIG, it is appearing $800 lower. I still need to discuss with at least 2 more dealers.

Can you explain the modding issue?? I'm curious...

BTW: $56k is actually a pretty decent price given everything the car has.

Well, the DCT can only handle soo much. As you get into performance mod, more load, more psi, more air flow, the tranny can only handle soo much and starts to slip if you punch it like 1-2 gear. after 3rd gear it seems to be handling fine. launch control on the DCT turns your 330 to 370 torque for 7-8 seconds or whatever revs at 5k to dump it off the line. it was cool stock but now going from 8psi stock to 18.8psi, it spins to 3rd gear and trips out. the manual tranny can handle more than the DCT.

I like the DCT/DSG setups, but that can definitely become boring. It's great for traffic and speedy shifting. Launch control with the increased torque boost sounds amazing.

Quoted to $55.6k currently...

I will contact a couple other dealers this weekend.

I got the 6 Speed instead of the DCT option. See thread for pictures!

As with most cars, a manual gearbox can (in most cases) provide the driver a better experience with the engine and control of the car. That's just my personal view on it. A dual clutch gearbox is nice and shifts incredibly fast but it takes away from the driver experiencing a gear shifting down/up/ and ability rev match, etc.

Having driven a DSG gearbox, I would have expected a regret of the purchase if the 335IS was a DCT gearbox.
