ST Install Question; Rear Shock upper nut

Looking to install my ST's soon.

For those w/ST Coils, which nut did you use on rear shocks? ST, or BMW?

ECS Tuning install video notes that you should NOT use the one provided by KW.
They recommend you use a BMW Nylox(?) nut which has a bushing,
Plus they note that BMW recommends a new nut/bushing w/every installation.

Did you guys just re-use the BMW nut/bushing? Purchase a new one from dealer?

Thanks for input.

I used the stock nut on the bottom of the shock and bought new rear shock mounts that came with new parts obviously. If you have over ~60K miles I'd say get new rear shock mounts anyway.

I got new ones from BMW. They were pretty cheap and I prefer to replace locking nuts where possible. You ABSOLUTELY cannot use the ones that come from KW. The OEM nuts have the upper mount attached to them.

Go here: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do

Input the last 7 digits of your VIN in the top left box and SEARCH and then BROWSE PARTS. I like to browse in Images drill down mode. Next find the rear axle section. You will see the rear strut and spring buildup subsection next. Find the part in the diagram and match the number. I find mine is 33506771737 but you may want to search on your specific car.

This tool is great for both understanding the geometry of the suspension and also identifying all the nuts you (should) be replacing during the install.
