Anyone on Vessel Otello? Customs Delay?

Anyone on Otello (depart Bremerhaven 6.22.11) get their car yet?

Did ED 5.24.11. Drop-off Frankfurt 5.30.11
Loaded onto "Otello" 6.22.11 (3 weeks after dropoff)
Arrived NY/NJ Port 7.6.11 (5 weeks after dropoff)

Today 7.27.11 - Still in Customs for last three weeks (8 weeks, one day after dropoff)

Any thoughts?

Damn that sucks! Mine is due in on 8/2, hope I don't encounter the same problem. Does your CA have any idea?

@ GE - Yes, my CA and BMW North America are both aware. They are trying their best to help, but we're dealing with U.S. Customs... it's really out of their hands.

Yes. Part of the Customs process begins en route during the 14 days the car is crossing the Atlantic. In my case, , it seems that my car missed two vessels in Bremerhaven, Germany. The paperwork was on one ship, and my car was on another. So the Customs process began once the car arrived in NY/Newark.

U.S. Customs then took their sweet time (5 weeks, two days) to clear the vehicle.

This is not a reflection of BMW; it is just a reflection of the stark contrast between German efficiency and American lack of accountability. Our tax dollars at work! Woo hoo!
