hang in there indeed! This may be the fault of the bad dealer. I had a similar problem. Brought it in for issue A, they installed some completely unrelated parts and cleared the code. Of course the same code was back when I started the car the next day. Took it to a good dealer and they actually replaced the correct component. No codes over the past two weeks! New dealer was drastically better in every way.

I threw a P0101. They connect to their system and got the internal BMW code with same list. "MAF issue."

The problem I am having is they say they "road tested it" but the code came back in 5 miles and their system says no miles were put on the car.

@BMW335D88: I take the car back today, so I will find out by EOW. Keep you posted.

And I was going to JBD my car this weekend.

Update. BMW dealer said they forgot to "reset the system." cleared the code, again, and said to drive it around for a while.

SES came back on... back to dealer.

Does anyone know what the next step the process would be is P0101 isn't fixed by a new MAF?

I had a weird MAF issue recently. See post 13 and followup replies.

Haven't had any MAF issues since. May or may not be of any help for you...

I was able to clean the MAF with CRC by loosening the clamp and removing the whole top of the air cleaner assembly since I could not get to the bottom torq bolt. I still have that P101 code. I did not clear it from the car. Will do it today and see if it helps.

Yeah, so cleaned the MAF, cleared code. Replaced MAF, cleared code. I did tell the SA to check the filter and such, but I think I'll take a look myself tonight.

You younger troops with the good ears! I can't even hear the AC belt squeal, let alone the turbos or air filter mods.

Nothing to brag about, but I have another 15 on top of that. Too many C-130 flights and Grand Funk Railroad concerts are hard on the ears.

BMW Service Quote

Carbon Build Up. $5500....

I could you some alternative suggestion.

Does anyone know if VAC motorsports walnut shell service would do the same job? Might do that and remap at same time if the price is right.

Well, that's where I had my suspension work done, and I had heard of their walnut shell blasting, but I wonder if it is for the gassers? Dunno.

Yeah I thought I read that in a thread but can't find it for the life of me. There should be alternative methods to,cleaning out the carbon instead of throwing 5.5k at it... That's just way too much. Bg might have some products that could help

I am not knowledgeable about the details, but that sounds way too expensive. I thought it was 1K or under for a walnut shell blasting. Maybe I'll ask VAC tomorrow when I bug them about something else.
