I'm a CCA member but the only events I have ever attended were the Auto-X's. Not doing them anymore but I'd recommend them to anyone. The CCA crowd isn't a bunch of punks who drive it like they stole it, can't stand that crowd.

yeah, the CCA crowd is a bunch of old farts who drive beaters, go duck bowling and wouldn't know a mod if it smacked them in the face. i can't stand them either.

Coding

Anyone in the area have any experience coding? Saw the post for the Alpina flash for the e92 and wondered if anyone had done anything similar to it, otherwise just various deletes and add ons like digital Speedo.

How difficult was that for you? And what cable did you get. I just ordered mine and will be doing the Alpina flash once I receive the cable. Care to share on how it's changed the driving experience for you

If you've never installed any of the BMW apps, the hardest part is getting it set up and importing the correct data into the program. Once your computer is set up and communicating with your car, the flash only takes a couple of minutes. I have the $100 cable that most people bought and it works well... although right now I wish I had a BT cable so I could play with some of the open-source stuff that's being worked on.

As far as the driving experience, it's a mixed bag. In D, the car shifts smooth, but way too early IMO. I'm in 4th-5th gear just cruising through my neighborhood... 6th gear by 40 mph. At this low RPM, you have to really get on it to get in the power band.

Now, Sport and Manual mode is a different story. In S, the car stays in the power band a lot longer and the shifts are crisper. Likewise, in M mode the shifts are crisp and instantaneous.

If you spend a majority of your time in D, you probably won't like this flash. If you're like me and live in M mode, you'll really like it.

Either way, once you get it set up, it's easy to go back to stock. If you wanna go for a ride in my car before deciding, just PM me.

I don't know much about the open source and any of that. This is going to be my first coding so I'm trying to learn the skeleton process of how to do things.
