Mod ideas 335i N54 E93
Recently got my Ar Downpipes, intake, BOV, Cobb v3 installed. Now I'm looking for an Oil cooler to keep engine temp low and a Intercooler. Any good oil coolers and inter coolers straight bolt on ?
Also any other mod ideas? |

Only 5" FMICs are straight bolt on -- a 5" FMIC is all that you need unless you are planning to race and push power over 400 HP.
There are also some stepped 5" FMICs which are a hybrid between 5 & 7" but, if you need that much flow, you might as well just go w/7" instead. Lots of vendors to choose from and nothing much to distinguish between them, except price. However, if smog testing is an issue, I recommend choosing one that retains the OEM couplers and charge pipes, because changing the charge pipes will probably result in failing the visual inspection during a smog test. I chose the Mishimoto specifically because of this. However, if you are running very high boost, the OEM charge pipes probably won't stand up to the pressure and will have to be replaced eventually. Lots of other mods you can do; too many to mention here w/o specific info about what your objectives are for the car. PS: There was a thread/poll asking people what they're engine temps were; 230/240 was a common answer but if you are just driving around town I don't think 240-245 would still be fine but the temp should drop to 230-240 if when you hit the highway.

What's the ambient temp when it's in this range? During summer, I hit 240+ in traffic, but that's when it's 90+ out. If I get on it a lot, I hit 250. But on the highway, it drops down to 230's. This is with an AR Design oil cooler.
