Escort Redline or Valentine One
Which radar detector should i buy for my 335, the redline or the V1.
They both have two antennas and they both claim to be the best on the market right now.. the V1 has always been good but it seems a little dated nowadays, and the redline is brand new and seems pretty good. soo let me have ur opinions.

well they've worked just fine for me for the past 5 years, you need a good quality detector, if you're gonna buy a $99 radio shack one you might as well save ur money
the one i had broke so i need a new one..

I have a V1 and it works great. If you think its dated you can send it in to Valentine and they update all the stuff on your radar detector.

Instant On and Laser are unavoidable, even with a V1. Yes it may help you around town, but don't let it give you a false sense of security.

In Puerto Rico, lidar is NEVER used, and instant on is very rarely used. cops just drive around with radar antennas hardwired to the vehicle (no radar guns) and they constatly monitor vehicle speeds in front or rear of them. So radar detectors are pretty effective here, but only Ka band is used.

I just heard about the Redline today. I haven't read any objective test reports on it.
It's new so I'd give Escort a few months to work the bugs out of it. As I understand one big advantage is that it can't be detected by radar detector-detectors, like the police use in Virginia. One big disadvantage seems to be that it's $100 more than the V-1.

V1. I really like the directional arrows. Adjustable sensitivity and loud enough to hear over my stereo. Two mounting options, comes with choice of cords and includes a fused hard-wire bundle. Best $399 ever spent.

V1! Have had 3 over the years. Never go out of date- Send back for sw/fw upgrades when update issued. The even help against Instant-On, as long as you're not the target, but behind- you will detect some of the beam side-lobs and scatter.
Curious about the Redline not be detectable. As far as I know all previous RADAR detectors use a superhetrodyne receiver which by its very nature create some level of residual transmissions which is what the Police may detect. |

Ok. LIDR are still rarely used. They are expensive and most are hard to use. Any radar detector is useful against random officers who are running to calls w/ the radar on all the time. The dedicated "traffic" officers are much more sneaky and they are smart enough to avoid radar detectors. Seriously, your best bet is traveling in moderate traffic and watching brake lights in front of you for random stopping when there shouldnt be people stopping.
One last thing, nothing more satisfying that writing a ticket to someone w/ a really nice radar detector on the windshield.
