servicing a CPO at 60k
my cpo is certified til 100k....here is a list of what bmw cpo warranty covers...
Engine # Automatic/Manual Transmission # Front Suspension # Rear Suspension # Steering # Brakes # ABS Brake System # Electrical # Air Conditioning/Heating System # Cooling System # Interior/Exterior # Fuel System # Final Drive Assembly, Propeller Shaft that being said...should i spend liberally on a 60k service?? servicing the transmission and coolant system and bla bla....an indy mechanic just quoted me 1000...included in that changing all fluids and filters from oil, tranny, coolant, power steering, brake, diff fluid....he also mentioned that i might want to keep an eye on the coolant system and water pump.. i dont want to spend 2000 for preventative maintenance considering my warranty covers all that im trying to maintain? i understand preventative maintenance is key if i want to keep the car but to be honest i dont know if i want to keep the car for another 80k miles....i dont see me in the car 3 or 4 years from now, however, i dont plan on selling within 1 year though either.... what would e90.com do? |

If you don't plan to keep the car past your warranty period, why spend the extra money? You'd just be doing the next owner a favor.
I will keep my car at least 10 years, so I plan on those services at 40-50k miles.

^ +1 If you are going to keep the car within the warranty period there is no point in performing ANY preventative maintenance. Keep in mind, BMW claims lifetime fluids in their transmissions and I believe in their coolant. I think the only fluid you need to flush is brake fluid every two years.

If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger
