08 iDrive + iPod: Playlist Issue?

I've got an 08 e90 328xi with USB.

I plug in my iPod nano via my USB synch cable, and the iDrive recognizes all the songs, artists, genres, etc.

However it does NOT show the playlists that I had created in iTunes.

Is this normal? For my USB keys, it does show the .m3u playlists. But in terms if iPods and iTunes, I was hoping it would show the iTune playlists too?

Can someone please confirm if it should or should not show the iTune playlists? Thanks.

I don't have an ipod cradle or usb connection but I suspect that the reason why has to do with how ipod's store files.

Ipods use a database to map the track name and track tags to a file that is renamed on the ipod whereas a stick/cd just stores the files (and playlists).

6FL only reconize playlist in the format M3u. I don't know the format of an playlist made by Itunes. I uese Media Monkey to create my playlist.

6FL should display iTunes' playlists. Mine does.

It depends how you connect your Ipod to the car (with the Ipod USB cable or with the Y cable from BMW).
With the Y cable from BWM it will recognize the playlist from Itunesbecaus the Ipod is doing the job.
When you use the Ipod as an external harddrive you have to use playlist in the format M3u.
