Anyone with Borla Racing Pipes, or other racing pipes?

Anyone with Borla Racing Pipes?
Hi guys,

Not looking to add dps for warranty issues. Car has MS filter, and will have cobb ap soon.

I have the 4" cyba black chrome tips, and while installing those was thinking of buying the borla racing pipes for my 08 335xi coupe. I have the golf tee mod, and it def is better sounding but want a little more.

Anyone here with borla racing pipes and rest stock exhaust?

If so, any drone? Any hp increase at all? Tried to find videos but can only find borla catbacks... any luck/help is quite appreciated!

Also, any other brands of racing pipes out there like the Borlas?

Borla Racing pipes sucks . dont get them.
Bad quality and the connection to the dps is even smaller than stock. you will also have to cut your OEM pipes and weld the borla ones so just do only dps with no cats or a complete catback exhaust.

Most cat back exhausts add 4-5 HP. So that is the most you could expect on a great day.

Damn really?

Like I said not trying to add DPs bc of warranty, and I am not going to pay esp on my XI the extra hours it takes to remove for service/ warranty claims, etc.

I was just going to use the new cyba tips + these and have a shop put both on.. but if these suck and are bad quality, and the size is smaller on the connection.. then I will pass.

I'm assuming you have the newer Borla catback (dual mufflers vs. single)? That's the only way I could see a/the Borla catback droning "pretty bad." But then again, drone is so subjective.

I have the borla exhaust (the single muffler unit) with the borla mids and catless dp ; zero drone

I am 6MT however, I have read that 6AT may drone at times due to the gearing.

on my car however, its a very tame sound, even catless. I love it

tame and well behaved, that sounds more like a Borla exhaust

I just this weekend made my own "race pipe" by removing my 2nd cats and resonator (e90) but left the stock mufflers. It was the most god awful sound I've ever heard. I installed a set of magnaflow mufflers two days later because I could not stand how raspy the car sounded. I would not recommend the race pipe unless you change mufflers too.

I was following an early 90's Honda Accord with a blown muffler and I couldn't believe how similar my car sounded to that. I felt so much shame!

LOL.

so you never mentioned whether or not the magnaflow mufflers fixed the problem with your secondary cats/resonator delete.

^^ It made it a lot better. Idle, cruise and light throttle accelerating is perfect. Free rev is music to my ears! Wide open throttle it is still a little on the raspy side. I don't know what my plan is for fixing that.

Vibrant Resonators seem to be the answer around here.

I have the same setup (single muffler, catless midpies, catless downpipes) but with an AT. It definitely drones below 2,500 rpm under load.

Getting a Magnaflow 11379 installed in the midpipes tomorrow, hopefully that will get rid of the drone. Thought about going the Vibrant route, but wanted something with more sound absorbing material as the exhaust can't be too quiet IMO.

i am using ar catxxx dps and borla exhaust, still had to use some oem parts like enrita said. sounds good, no major drones. I did this to loose some weight on the heaviest car on earth e93, there was no hunting for whp on the first line. it is cheap and sounds acceptable (like a v8 now), did it after full catless on oem pipes and sound improved a lot. Minuses - had to use a piece of oem pipes.

Here are pics of that Magnaflow muffler installed before the x pipe in the Borla mid pipes. Exhaust sounds great now, zero drone and much quieter on a cold start.

If i have 100% stock exhaust.. I have the golf tee mod done (it does help a bit). I am adding 4" tips which everyone says also helps a bit more. Is there anyway to get more sound cheaply? Not looking for crazy loud or drone like some people have reported removing the cats... but seeing if there is any options out there replacing any pipes (besides the downpipe for warranty issues)

Still works great. Currently running the stock exhaust for emissions, will try to get some stock vs aftermarket video of cold start and some driving when I switch back to catless.
