AWD Wheel question - do you have to stagger?
I want to get some rims for my car but the ones i like arent available as a staggered setup.. I was looking at the Arelli Mezlan wheels.. will they still work?
I was told they are +40 offset.. 18x8.5 -- Would they be a simple take off the stock ones and put these on? Any help would be greatly appreaciated, thanks.. |

if you have 8.5 in front with a +40 offset, i am quite sure you will rub against the interior shaft (in the front) - they did a test fit on my 328i with a 8.5 rim, along with a +38 offset, it didn't work for the front - rear was not an issue

staggered is a personal preference. it gives the look of more aggresiveness. you can stagger on AWD, as long as the rolling diameter is the same for front and back. this is basically the height of the wheels, otherwise, you AWD will suffer. if you get the sports xi from BMW, they stagger from factory but only a little bit.
