Bought a set of these in case my 18x9.5" didn't fit.. Looks like I'll be able to stuff them in though! Contemplated keeping these for my bro's car but decided not to have 2 sets of the same wheels.

A perfect fitment to run square with 255/35-18 tires on most 3-series (perhaps with a small spacer in front) - get rid of that understeer!

i think it would be easier for u to appeal to e9x people if you do 18x9 on front and 18x9.5 in the back since many people running staggered setup. glws

square set up was and still is popular among e3x and e46 but not so much among e9x crowds... i've seen several occasions e9x with xi drive still running staggered set up. just my .02 for you since you have wider set up. if you make it stagger, more of e9x ppl will inquire about it i bet.

Thanks. Unfortunately only the 18x9 is available because the others are already mounted. I've always run square on all of the BMWs in the family (this includes E36s, Z3, E46, E9x) and with more negative camber in the front, because:
1. it looks better
2. it performs better (well-documented for 3-series)
3. you can rotate the tires
4. the tires last longer
5. cheaper in the long run!

Trust me it's worth it! Unless you're going for bling or stretch/poke, this is the way to go.

Anybody know the minimal tire width that a 9" wheel will take without problems? Maybe it's possible to get a staggered tire setup with "235 to 245"/"40 to 45"/18 tires up front? Would it then be viable to run without spacers for the fronts?

Officially manufacturers recommend up to 9" widths on 225/40-18, though I'm sure some people have taken that limit further and stretched 205 or 215 onto them.

Not sure why you want to stagger like that though - non-M e9x run the same diameter on all 4 corners. I also don't think spacers are required for the front, regardless of what tire size you go with. I've run 19x9.5 ET32 (equivalent to 19x9 ET38.35 in terms of strut clearance) with 265/30-19 in the front of an E93, no spacers, no problems.
