Yeah. Another way - update your SW before CIC-installation.

1) If I retrofit to CIC, the Haptic feedback would probably be removed, does it mean the old iDrive knob will now just spin around with no force feedback? (if I retrofit without the newer controller)

2) My TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor) uses ABS sensors to detect loss of pressure, I think that the later revisions of the E90 changed to newer TPM that detects pressure loss on each wheel, since the CIC is designed for the later model 3 series, how would this effect the warning mesage displayed on the retrofit CIC?

3) Although BMW would not honour reprogramming or support for retrofit CIC, would the unit itself still have a years warranty anyway (so if faulty could still be sent back for warranty repair)?

Thanks in advance !

1. You MUST replace the controller with at least to the March 07 build controller or later. the haptic feedback controller is not compatible with the newer ccc or the cic units at all.

2. Cic can be coded to work with the older tpm system.

3. no idea...

I guess I am not as lucky as all of you E90 guys out there. I have a 2008 LCI E60 that I pulled the trigger on this upgrade with.

Everything seems to work but the subs under the seats. I like it, but not having any bass isn't going to work long term.

Patryk has been good about trying to remedy the problem and is currently working on it. I just hope he can find a solution soon.

Anyone else got any ideas?

Is there any lag with the old controller? Also, I remember the new interface has the ability to scroll on the nav map by pushing in one direction, and then turning the wheel simultaneously to slightly alter the movement of the map. Can the old controller do that?

Those new features requires a 2011 CIC, the new Combox and new wiring harness... and that is if it is technically possible to retrofit at all.

Come on Technic, I am sure we will have it retrofitted sooner or later
It's like with the FSC codes at the end of last year

sometimes I regret not having a 2011. I might just have to do this upgrade after playing with the new iDrive extensively.

Yes, but it is more extensive than what is being discussed in this thread.

There are 4 pins that power the screen. They are 1,3,5, and 6. I just did mine and it was probably one of the best mod I did to my car. Hope that Helsinki you.
