Rear Brake problem after DIY

So I did my own brake job, and everything was going fine until I got the final wheel (driver side rear). The rotor would not come off (I thought, typicall, rusted to the hub). A couple of taps with a mallet got it lose, but it wouldn't come off. It was as if the parking brake was on, but it wasn't (I double checked and had no problem with the passenger side).

After 15 minutes of banging and pulling, it finally pried lose, but I feared that I had somehow bent/pulled out the parking brake shoes/assembly. I cleaned up the old shoes and everything seemed solid. New rotor went on without an issue. When I started driving, I hear a scraping sound, cycling with each revolution of the wheel. Sometimes it gets loud, sometimes its quiet.

Any ideas on what to do? I'm going to take both back wheels off tonight and try to examine the difference between them and see if something's out of place.

Did you replace the pads too? It's unlikely that you bent the rotor. about 100 miles ago, I replaced rotors, pads, and lines. I used a scissor jack to remove the rear rotors, and then whacked it with a BFH. Came right out, and they don't look bent.

New rotors and pads. I didn't/couldn't have bent the new rotor, but I'm worried I bent the drum shoes for the parking brake when pulling the old rotor off.

I'm going to pull the wheel and rotor off tonight and see if I can spot an rub marks. I'm hoping its just the dust shield, but I have a feeling its the parking brake drum soes

Pulled of the rotor tonight and there's scoring inside the drum. I adjusted the shoes to be a closed as possible and still the same. It looks like when I pulled to old rotor off, I pull the parking brake assembly out and it doesn't wan to go back in. When I push on one side, the other side pops out, and vise versa. I'm giving up and taking it to the shop tomorrow.

The culprit was a bent support/mounting ring for the parking brake. Problem solved!

Dude you probably forgot to disable the handbrake before you removed the rotors. You also have to put the the car in Neutral. I learned this lesson since me too I could not remove rotor. Good thing I realized this in time I was able to remove it succesfully. I came off really easy after I put car in Neutral.

No, the car was in neutral and the hand brake was off. I had the car on stands the whole time and no problem with the passenger side, only the driver side gave me trouble. I even tried engaging and disengaging the hand brake several times to loosen it but it was seized somehow.

Anyways, I've got a mechanic that does all the work for the motorsport club here in Ottawa; he fixed me up, inspected the rest of my handy work and only charged me an hour labor. Still worked out cheaper than the dealership!
