Need new tires (Picture added)
It's about time for new tires and I want to get rid of run flats. What do you guys suggest? What kind of tires should I get? Looking for something in between decent and the best. Thanks
EDIT: Speaking of new tires..look what happened this morning The rubber strip came straight off the tire revealing some tar EDIT #2: Alright so this today I went to go get Michelin tires installed but the shop I was at said BMW recommends run flats so they refused to put on non-run flats because of safety issues. What should I do? The guy also said that the car won't perform properly because it "needs" run flats to get that good drive bmw has..? Last edited by NjPrince; 11-19-2012 at 09:55 PM.. |

I got 4 Pirelli P Zero, I really like them so far, they were a good value. I think everyones favorite tire is the Michelin Pilot Super Sport.

Vrederstein Ultrac Sessanta, amazing tires for the price. Not quite known in the States, but Europe loves this tire, and so do I. I highly recoment the Vredersteins!!

Conti Extreme Contacts. Only suggest because I have it. Gives you the best of everything. The DWS may work best for your application.

^ That's the best (and the priciest). Decent would be Hankook Ventus V12s. In between would be the Contis.

Everyone will tell you michillen super sports. These are obviously amazing tires for spirited driving and performance. I do not agree that they are good cost value. I had the choice between Continetal extreme contact dw or the super sports. The deciding factor for me at least was the tread life. The SS are 30,000 to 40,000 and the DW are 60,000.

Bridgestone Blizzak WS70s for winter. Although, I have Yokohama S-Drives on my 19s and I love them. I will be going with said Blizzaks though on 17" wheels come first snow forecast from Tirerack, as I am RWD and will go NOWHERE with said 19s Are you X-Drive or AWD? |

I just installed the new nitto motivo all seasons, coming from continental extreme contact dws all seasons.
The nittos compare very favorably, are a bit cheaper, and have longer tread rating. Many next set however will not be all season. They just don't help enough in the snow imho.

If you want all out performance for summer tires you can do no better than the pilot super sports.
If you want want tires that give you 90% of what PSSs do, hankooks. If you drive at the limit, you will notice the difference at the Michelins are worth it. I have has 2 sets of hankooks and will certainly get another when they new replacing. |

If you're going to be driving in New Jersey winters please do not drive on PSS, DW's, Hankook V12's etc. It's very dangerous to drive with summer tires on in snow, ice, even colder temps.
As others have mentioned, running snow tires and summers tires in the different season will be your best option.

I have Toyo Proxes4. A bit pricier than Ventus V12s but cheaper than PSS and they are all seasons. I like them a lot, although we don't get much snow here so I'm not sure how they perform in winter. They have performed beautifully on wet slippery roads here, though, and they have lasted quite a while, even with lots of "spirited" driving.
I haven't seen many other people running this tire on E9x and I'm not really sure why. I've been very pleased with them.
