Reliability Rating: 2009 328i Sedan
1-10
1 being the worst. 10 being extremely reliable. So as some of you may know. I recently had a issue with some of my sensors in my 09 328i sedan yesterday. (Read Previous Thread) Which lead me to getting a loaner. I'm going to be honest guys. I now have doubt in my vehicles reliability. Do these cars break a lot? If you own a similar model: How was your experience? My Vehicle Specs: Year: 2009 Mileage: 45k Number of Previous Owners: 1 Accident History: None The previous owner never missed a service appointment. I just got this car last month. Should I have anything to worry about? The last thing I want to do is look like a fool broken down in a BMW on the side of the road. People love the site of broken down premium vehicles. Thanks for your time. |

23K miles 2second owner. 1st owner was an old ladie no accidents. No problem what so ever. I give mine a 9 as far as rating goes BTW just because the last owner never miss a appointment doesn't mean he didnt beat on it. |

88k miles I'm the 2nd owner (first was a family member for 20k miles) no accidents transmission leak was fixed at 49k I give mine a 11 in reliability. (yes, 11) tbh, prob a 9 though, cuz it has cost me a pretty penny to keep it as clean as I want it to be. I'd say its good, but then again I'm pretty slow on modding because I'm so held up on preventative maintenance. |

I've got a 2011 328 xdrive, 26k miles, zero issues whatsoever.
Only two things, the fan has a funny noise on super cold starts, and I got an increased battery discharge warning a couple weeks ago. Battery warning was because it was -40 out (it also had a tough time starting), and the fan noise is also because its cold. If it persists into the spring/summer with warmer temps I'll get it looked at. Overall score, I'd say a 10 (knock on wood). |

Oh, and I'm the original owner, picked her up with 55 miles on the odo. She's an MT, I beat on her everyday and she takes it in stride, begs for more even.
I'd recommend sticking it out, a couple of sensors really isn't a big deal, he'll it could've been because it was sitting too long even. When you get it back take the car on a nice long road trip (around 1000 miles) and hope that it clears everything out. Most of my miles are highway, cruising at 75-80. These engines will give a nice 200k miles if treated properly. |

Thanks guys! I'll go ahead and stick with it. If there's anyone else who'd like to share, feel free to do so. This should be a interesting topic for people looking to buy.

Mine has 48k miles on it. According to the complete service records supplied by the dealership, the car has not had a single issue up to my ownership a few weeks ago. I had the car in last week for a once-over before the warranty expired. They repaired the oil filter housing gasket and two suspension bushings. Car was out of service for less than 24 hours. Not bad- 2 minor repairs in 50k miles. More reliable than several Toyotas I have owned.
Not to criticize, but given the information you have in the other thread about your driving/operating habits, you might have more problems than the average owner. Like most German cars, if you take care of your BMW, it'll take care of you. Don't drive the tank to empty and idle for two hours if it's not completely necessary. I sort of suspect that idling for 2 hours probably caused massive heat soak underhood and fried your sensors.

2007 E92 Coupe 47500 miles on it..I'm the first owner i would rate it a
9 1/2..I would have gave it a 10 but had to bring it in to get the belt Tensioner bolt replaced under warranty, besides that my baby has been rolling strong.
