Sudden Bluetooth/Phone Address Book Issues
Ok, I have a Sony Ericsson W810i which has worked flawlessly in my '06 330xi for the last 3 months. No issues using the address book, receiving, placing calls - everything worked real well until this past weekend...
The address book disappeared and the history (missed/last/etc calls) information was gone? I've since deleted/re-paired the phone with the car several times and I am able to place and receive calls ok - but for some reason only get a few Alphabets of my address book...A, J, L, S, V, W - nothing else? Anyone have any ideas why the address book would suddenly stop working? Cheers! |

Similar problem happened to me. It worked fine for at least a month and then it would no longer place phone calls. Hence it is now listed as incompatible by me.

Well that's just whacked...! I guess 3 months for the honeymoon period between the car and the phone...I wonder what else will happen in another 3 months?!
I'm going to give another "compatible" phone a try and see what happens. |

I finally figured this out today -- only numbers on your SmartChip show up in the BMW phone book! So, when the phone says "SmartChip Full" while saving a number, it means that number will not show up on the BMW phone book.
Not sure who to blame there (car or phone). But it's an easy fix. On the W810i, if you go to the Phone Book, there is an "Options" selection that will let you move numbers back onto the SmartChip, or to delete extraneous SmartChip entries. The main issue seems to be with the phone actually, because it will actually push entries OUT of the SmartChip without telling you. I haven't figured the algorithm for that yet... but hopefully this info will already solve most problems and give some understanding of what the heck is going on.
