I would look at H&R's offerings for lowering springs.
As far as your question about alignment goes, lowering your ride height significantly changes pretty much everything so you're definitely gonna want to get one done if you want to avoid premature tire wear. Toe is especially effected. The car will be perfectly safe to drive though so don't worry if you can't get to it on the same day as the install. I went almost two weeks without an alignment after I installed my H&R Street Performance coilovers, and I had it sitting as low as possible. Admittedly it was stupid of me to wait more than a day or two, but my point is it won't make you randomly fly off the road and into someone's living room. haha

I have The Prokit from Eibach and the ride feels stock for the most part, nice subtle drop:

about an inch in the front (after it settled) and a little less in the rear. I wasn't looking for a really low stance or a drastic improvement in handling, if I had wanted that I would of went with coil-overs. Plus 1 on the alignment as well, never do anything suspension related without having an alignment lined up afterwards (which if you are local to me I run a shop in Raleigh)
