So I have the itch of getting the coils this week and dropping my jeep, should I wait until winter is over or does it make any difference at all?

Depends on how much snow you get and how low you go. The difference in clearance is only an inch or two at most.

As Fapout mentioned it depends on how low you go. If you lower it to the height of a 335i w/ sport suspension I think you would be ok from the fact that I haven't heard of too many 335i owners complain about ground clearance.

That being said I had my old B5 A4 on coils and hit a lot of ice chucks left in the road. Every time I hit one I would cringe and hope the oil pan was still in one piece. My A4 sat lower than a 335i though.

Of course it really doesn't matter if you wait till winter is over - cause there's just going to be another one rolling around at the end of the year.

Unless you believe the Mayan's and the fact that the end of the world is 12/21/12 - then you won't have to see another winter


Seriously though, unless you have a front spoiler that hangs much lower than the oem bumper - you should be alright.

Now if you make a habit of plowing thru roads with 1ft deep snow - then it will hit...

if you get coils you can adjust the height........raise it up begining of winter....slam it in the summer.......and you can maintain what your stock height was on most coils if i am not mistaken.....

if you never plan on changing your height you may as well do new springs and something like bilstein dampers.....it would be cheaper if u dont plan on utilizing the coils adjustability

Most coils will lower the car at least an inch all around at their max height.
