What type of mount do you have? If you have the suction cup mount, you can mount it pretty much anywhere. It just depends on what type of angle you want to film.

Get a suction cup mount for the windshield. I mount mine behind the rear view mirror. Works great on my 335i, my truck, and all my other cars.

I have the motorsport edition mount, and I've mounted that thing pretty much everywhere you can think of. For interior shots I have mounted it upside down on the sunroof and just flipped the video in post processing. For exterior I usually do the rear quarter panel, but I have also done the roof, the driver door, and even once tried it directly on the wheel center cap for some low-speed crazy spinning shots (careful with this though).

I am itching to order the hero 3 black -- how do you like it? I've heard there have been a few issues with the battery life and overheating.

I recently got myself the silver edition, I think it's good enough for most users unless you really need the extra features from the black and think the extra $100 is worth it.

Use a suction cup mount and suction it to your sunroof upside down then edit it.

Psst.... you can select to invert the video in the settings menu on the camera itself. Whole lot easier than having to do it in the editing phase

Upside down mounted on sunroof or right under the rear view mirror.

I've mounted them all over the place, but I shoot with them professionally. There's a cool new weather-vane mount which is excellent for drifting shots.

I really like it. It gets hot so I just use the open back door. I use it on the inside of the car only.
