Can I access blower motor assembly?

I've got an 06 330i and I seem to have a "thing" rubbing against the blower motor when it spins. I've taken off the outside air filter assembly under the hood and vacuumed it out, but didn't get it. Can I access the blower assembly from inside the car? My old Honda had an access point behind the glove box, but I only see fuses on the BMW. Thanks for any ideas! The "tick, tick, tick" is driving me nuts!

I had mine changed under warranty, but I have no idea how they did it. Seems to be a common problem.

Had mine changed just recently also, sounded like what you described. BMW replaced the blower motor under warranty.

it is behind the glovebox, but you wont see it unless you remove the entire glovebox or just remove the passenger kick panel.

Buy the Bentley manual.

It not look like a big job at all.

Remove the right lower dashboard trim. Detach the electrical connector. Press carefully on the lock lug, and rotate the blower counter-clockwise. Unscrew 2 screws, if necessary. When installing the blower, make sure the lock lug snaps audibly into place.

Tischer sells the blower for $147.18 plus shipping.

Hmmmmmmmm,,,,

Sounds like a dealer visit to be sure it does not need to be replaced!

Thanks for the info... I was thinking it was an odd leaf or something- however, I did not see any item or leaf in there after a look.

i just got to mine yesterday, not hard. remove the trim panel behind the glove box (2 screws), you'll be able to see the round bottom of the blower housing, mine has bright green lines on the black plastic.
my blower wasn't working at all, and bmw quoted me almost $600 to replace the motor and resistor, said both were bad. i crawled under the dash, removed what i'm guessing is the resistor, tapped out some gunk, squeezed my hand in where the blower fan is and spun it with my fingers, re-assembled, and it worked. very glad i decided to not have the dealer fix.
if you're getting a noise, maybe pop the resistor out (small plastic piece with 2 wire harnesses) and see if anything falls out, like a leaf etc. you could run it with the resistor out but still plugged in, to see if the blower ejects anything. my $0.02

my fan stopped working... I've opened the trim panel behind the glove box, I see the round bottom of the blower housing with green lines on black plastic, can't find the resistor, what exactly does it look like? There are a few plastic connectors with wires around there.

nevermind, I had a repair shop replace my blower motor and resistor since my old motor stopped working. Cost me $335 as my car is out of warranty.

i twisted the motor to detach it but i find it impossible to slide it out through the kick panel area. an immovable bundle of wires on one side and the foot duct on the other side are preventing me from pulling it out. am i missing something?

Great info. Old thread, but it saved me last night. My blower stopped working and after reading his I pulled it out, cleaned it up with contact cleaner (inside of the motor once it was all out), put it back in, and its running good again. All told a 45 minute job including the time spent Googling. Thanks guys!
