I am truly shocked Steve - such a short affair! It was only a few weeks ago that you were sooooo excited about it.

However, if I'm truely honest, I know where you're coming from. If I had the 'cash' (i.e. not finance my cars) I would probably be doing the same and swapping my cars even more than I currently do.

Funnily enough I had a drive of a new Focus RS last weekend; I went to Prestwood Hall in Leicestershire where they run Ferrari/Lambo etc. driving experience days - my girlfriends dad was doing a Ferrari experience.

They had loads of cars on a 'pay and drive' basis so instead of just watching someone else go round the track I thought I'd have a go of something. Out of the LP640's, LP560's, GT3's and F430's, I chose a lonely Focus RS which was generating very little interest amongst all the exotica (it was also on 'special' offer at £30 for 3 laps...if you could call that special).

I have to say, it drove very nice; power delivery and performance felt very similar to my old 335i and it handled pretty good. But it had a shocking driving position; even with the seat set right to lowest position it was far too high. Its a shame as I really like the looks of the car.

Overall, a very good hot hatch....but an M3 replacement?? I'm pretty confident we'll see you back pretty soon (maybe try an nice old barge like an M6??)

You know me so well!

Seriously, if I bought my cars with proper money I would probably change them 2 times a year (and swiftly run out of proper money - I just don't know how Steve does it!)

Good luck with the hunt Steve. ive been searching for a replacement for the M6 for a couple of months now and have been from Golf GTI to RS4 to R8 and still cant decide. But one things for sure if you've been offered 41k for your car dont hang about as its an awesome deal me thinks.

Steve

How about a white Scirroco R just a perfect base for hoopamania to be let loose.

Seen this? Absolutely shocking lines but that renault seems to be keeping up quite nicely.

best of luck to you Steve
Genuinely appreciate that Calvin. Yep, i put it up at £38,995 at first and within 10 mins of ad going live i had 5 calls!! One guy offered me the money there and then without seeing it but i said that there were other guys chomping at the bit for the car - so it ended up like a Dutch auction and going to a bidding war between 3 guys. The nicest sounding guy of them all, that seemed the most genuine offered me £41k flat, £5k deposit and he said he would wait til plates got transfered too. So, rather than be silly and greedy and try and barter the other guys off against him i just decided to end it there and then and agree the sale. He is coming today to view car and provided he is happy then it will be a done deal within a few hours. Sad to see it go as i drove it yesterday and it seemed to come alive - typical i guess. I will have another one IF i can find a DCT for good money.

Have to say i like the look and sound of the new Scirroco R - and like you im also tempted with the new RS5 and/or RS4 (when they come out) - but im too impatient and wont be able to wait that long i dont think??

Funny how some of you guys are all assuming that im definitely getting the Focus RS!! I said it was something i was considering as an option - its far far from a definite and to be honest i actually dont think its a front runner as a replacement at the moment. My number one choice would be another E92 M3 but with DCT - but i cant find one for the right money yet and colour choice is an issue too.

But - just to bring you up to speed - the buyer has just left and he has bought the car!! He absolutely loved it - and im really pleased its going to a good home. He has given me a £5k deposit and will be collecting the car and paying the balance next Thursday. I am sad to say farewell to it but ive taken the mods as far as i originally wanted to go and i know it looks stunning now. If i buy another one i know the mods i would do again and the ones i wont.

Hope the sale goes ok Steve, and good luck on the replacement.

I just had a quick look and the DCT cars all seem to be mid-40's.. Apart from the one with that awful yellow colour, thats got to be worth a 10k discount. Then get it wrapped!!!.

I am thinking about the GT-R. Are they all built in Japan ie. are they all IMPORTS?? Whats the issue with it being an import as opposed to a UK car?? Anyone know if it would be an issue buying a Jap import??

the UK launch was in Aprill so you can BUY a Uk car.

Imports may cost more to insure and will have 112mph limiter. UK Nissan warranty i believe does not cover Imports either.
