Pressed plates are fully uk legal (bs rated, supplier etched, fully reflective and correct font and spacing) and the surrounds are from www.bmw-munchen.de it was a phone call and payment for postage a few euros can't remember how much but cheaper than the copies with every BMW badge under the sun on them from eBay

Looks really good.

Could I ask what the law is about front plates in the UK? I never ran a front plate on all my e36s but now that I have an e90 I still have it on. I've never been stopped but I know spend a lot more time in central London and was just wondering if I'd get a fine or worse.

I have the genuine plate surrounds from Germany I got them from this dealer based in Munich www.bmw-munchen.de I called them and they agreed (if a little intrigued and confused) to send me some in the post if I paid the postage which I did and I got them a few days after I can't remember the actual postage cost think it was 6 Euros ish

In terms of the law in the UK it is the same for metal as it is plastic they must meet the BSU regs (and have this shown on the plate base), they must be properly reflective, they must have the standard UK font, they must be correctly spaced, they must have the place they bought company name and postcode shown on the plate base.

I have run pressed plates from the same supplier on 2 VW's and now my BM (approx 6years in total) never had an issue with police, MOT etc and neither has my Mom who runs a set on her MINI. The only thing both me and my Mom have had is people ask us where they were from etc when we've filled up with fuel, tyres, been at the dealers etc

You will only run into problems if you do what is common with the kids on the dub scene and think you'll get away with a German D euro badge, full German text font and some of them bless them think it's wrong they get pulled and fined even when they have fake German stadt plates midway between their plate text. They look great when at shows and meets but cannot be read by APNR etc and are AngloGermanic mixtures.

If your setting up a group buy I remember when I was on the DUB scene these were always done through

www.dubmeister.co.uk/webshop/uk-legal-pressed-metal-plates

Who I think we're the original supplier/seller of the fully U.K. Legal ones.

I think it looks much cleaner without the surrounds and euro band/lettering.

My pressed plates are just plain, and stickied directly to the car. No pics though

Makes it less secure and also the plates have relatively sharp edges so must be scratching/marking the paintwork with general driving vibrations
