They're two totally different types of cars, for two totally different types of personalities.

The newer mustangs don't have the same cheap plasticy interiors. I lived with it for 2 years and always had compliments on how nice the interior was.. perhaps because people had lower expectations.

The car is fast, but that's about it... that feel the BMW has is simply not there... and just because they are both rear wheel drive and v6's does not make them comparable.

No need for the extreme hate... they've evolved into very competent and relatively more refined than they have been for decades. There is something to be said about the fact that a 5.0 can go toe to toe with an M3 around the track (not just straight line anymore) -- so I say give credit where credit is due.

I think its ridiculous to expect a level of luxury of a BMW in a car that shares most of its components with the base model which starts at roughly half the cost of a basic 335.
+1 I agree with everything you said, so much hate but to each his own I guess. The mustang stepped up it's game so much past years along with a lot of america cars.

Anyways I hope you're right... I love the fact that manufacturers keep pushing the bar. I feel theres plenty of room for 4cyl/turbos, and Hybrids... just leave the sports car alone.
I don't know.... After the Mustang II (probably the worst car ever), I'm sure Ford is aware of the fact that if they drop the V8, all hell will break loose. I think putting a TT V6 (even if an outstanding implementation) will change their target demographic drastically, which would be bad. They're doing pretty good things with the efficiency of the NA V8, as are other automakers, so hopefully that continues.

Along the lines of what you said, I don't think anyone really cares if they replace the V6 with a TT I2 (or would it be a V2... or both?), as long as they keep a sweet sounding torquey V8, I'm good. I don't think they could sell many Mustangs without a V8 in the lineup (fleet vehicles excluded), but who knows these days.

I'm sure Ford knows very well what they can sell.. so does Chevy... doesn't mean that they dont keep producing Volts at a loss when they could do much better with other models.

Government intervention dood... name of the game in capitalist america 2012.

Not to bring politics into it... but its a fact that companies are being 'steered' by govt. regulation (for better or worse)

But when something does go wrong it's pricey. I'm a student so I can't afford it, a friend of mine has the '02 model with the vanos problem but his family owns the biggest BMW junkyard in LA so it isn't a problem for him to get things cheap and OEM, he gets 30% off from the dealerships. But his is salvaged (armenians)

mustangs have a bad rep of breaking down. On track or on the road.
Usually pass 550hp the block blows and alot of them are with bolt ons stock maybe the componets are cheap. I did hear the new one can handle a bit more

also, new camaro look nice too but wasnt pleased with acceleration at all. The interior is going to make you feels like you are down grading. Iam 6.4 and the seat rides low the steering wheel position i didnt like, I didnt feel in control of the car. You might like that all you see is the hood but then again not all the time :/

fair enough, but how many of us are gonna mod it past 550, or would mod even a 335i past 550hp?

also u were correct that the 5.0 (and the new v6 for that matter) are built a lot stronger, so again i may not have been a life long mustang fan, but the new ones are pretty legit.

I think the most a 335 has seen was in the 400s anything more I assume, the transmission couldn't handel it. Lol reminds me this one dude on Forza is saying his 335 has 700 hp -_____- HAHAHAHA

Dude, don't even think about trading your ultimate driving machine for a cheaply built piece of ***t.

You can't do anything with these extra horses, because your can't properly bring those horses to the asphalt... The road handling of the BMW is so much better; I don't even know where to start. Believe me, I've rented a Mustang and know what i'm talking about. I wouldn't dare to drive a Mustang at speeds over 100mph on the autobahn. But a BMW rides like a charm at 125mph.

And what about the design of the STRAIGHT SIX CYLINDER engine? Read about it online. BMW was the (or one of the first) manufacturer's of straight six cylinders. The technology is superb. A V6 is one big design compromise in order to avoid vibrations because of the naturally unbalanced setup of the engine etc.

Your BMW is a great machine. It will last forever. Imagine you keep it for another 10 years. Just because you like the car. Imagine you paid off your car in the next 5 years. Then, during the following 5 years, you put all your money, that would otherwise be spent on car payments, in a savings account. That is, say (at least) $400 per month. If you save that for 5 years in a row, you have $24,000 (!), (or $22,586 in today's money @ 2.5% annual inflation). There is a lot of nice things you can do for that money... If only a vacation to Europe to drive a BMW on the autobahn...

After driving his E46 M3 I want more power but there isn't anything out there like a BMW. But then again I only have 255 hp and the mustang v6 comes with 305 hp. I'll have to spend a lot on my car to make it faster and even then it won't be as fast as a v6 mustang. I was planning on installing Coilovers, Intake, Headers, Quads, Mtech Body, AA tune, etc within the year but I'm now considering just going with a Mustang... what would you guys do? Mustang or stick with my 330 and throw all the mods on? Don't really want to leave the euro scene lol. If the argument is just for looks the e90 wins but I honestly don't mind for looks, let's keep performance in mind. Thanks guys!
BMW v. Ford??? I'll stick with the BMW, thank you.

I guess I'm headed in the opposite direction. I just traded my 06 GT w/ a Saleen blower on it. 450 at the Dyno and 60k on it. Never had one problem and loved it.

I traded it in for 2011 e90 335i CPO w/ 8300 miles on it. I couldn't be happier. This thing responds and handles better than my Stang could have ever done.

As far as Torque and feeling of V8 power not so much. But at 40 I'm looking for something different.

Good luck with your decision. I don't regret mine.

I would too if I could get a 335.
