You can't really call a DJ using a laptop, a DJ anymore.
Take away his Denon CD decks with Serato on them, and let him try spinnin with some Technic 1200's without any computers. The problem is technology got way too involved and DJ's no longer beat match using their ears, they can now visually see the beat on their laptops. So all they have to do is cue up the next track and select the point of where they want to mix in... The computer does the rest. Some still use the pitch slider to adjust the beat but you can still visually see it so it makes it soooooo much easier but mixes come out shitty and unoriginal as well. That is all besides the point that everything the OP's cousin mixed last night, belongs on KTU. |

+10000 i agree with everything u said here. if your simply cueing up a track and hitting play with sync on then you ain't doin to much. beat matching is definitely an integral part of spinning edm, but once you practice it most people can do it with ease in a matter of a few seconds. so after that what do you do. then it comes down to record selection and knowing what to play and when to play it. and if your just spinning for fun in your house and whatnot (which is totally chill) your probably going to want to start doing some effects and loops and beat mashes. so my feeling is if your going to take advantage of the computer and let it sync your tracks you better be spending your time doing other interesting things. like playing 4 tracks at a time, dropping loops, inserting effects, basically creating new variations of tracks on the fly, not just sync 1 track and then the other after the other after the other. and lol def some ktu radio beats goin on here |
