In addition, BMW doesn't give two craps if you bring it into the dealership with it on. Really, they don't give two craps about any modification you have for service related items.
When it comes time to do warranty work you will want to return the car to stock. |

These days, I don't think it's safe to show the service guys ANY mods whatsoever, no matter why you happen to be there. |

No kidding. Can't people just help. A lot of newbies don't know about the search button. People feel so powerful putting up the button. Easy to hide behind a computer and act like a dick bag. |

Show me one post where someone took their car to the dealership for non warranty related work and it was noted they had mods or the car lost the warranty then and there and I will take back what I said. |

You likely realize that a fair answer of your question depends somehow on the history of problems with warranty. For a time, cold air intake was tolerated - lately there have been problems. The thread on the Prowess Symphony warranty problem is the most recent and most informative.

Even having a K&N drop in filter might void your warranty... so based on that, Im sure that a CAI or DCI will void it as well...

BMW is a job when it comes to things like this. If it was a Honda or Toyota there would be no question.
Ex. How could BMW say that a HPFP failure is caused by an intake especially when it is a known issue?

Is it detectable if you return it back to stock? Let's say I've only changed the intake, will the computer actually tell the mechanics that ive modded it even if its back to stock

First of all, why would you ? How much are you going to gain? Secondly, You are calling the dealer the "Stealership" when it is clearly you that is looking to pull the wool over THEIR eyes.
