Euro 323i to 325i by a tune
Base on visual and realoem, I have 02/2009 E90N 323i Sedan N52N Europe Right hand drive N which comes with 3 stages Manifold.
Can I get the horse power of a 325i with a tune? Anyone try that before? Thanks

Tuning will be done today.
For 325i, they claim 15hp increase from 218hp to 233hp. if 323i can reach this level of hp then it will be 28hp+15hp=43hp increase!!

No ones ever satisfied........... Go for it... since I'm not a 335 d-bag I'm not gonna tell you to just buy a 325 lol |

So you're a 325 d-bag?

It's funny that you say that, becuase after the tune the 323i is nearly just as fast as the 328 due to the extra weight savings on the 323i. Now if you had a 325i with 330 manifold swap and tune, you will be faster then the 323i.

I can't see how you would get 43hp from a tune. But I have been proven wrong before.

One of the main different between 323i and 325i is the rpm limit, 323 limit at 6500rpm while 325 limit at 7000rpm. A tuned 323i has higher torque but still cannot get pass 6500rpm, so it cannot be in the 325i level. If the car has 230nm of torque, then 500 rpm locks around 20 horsepower.

Here is a video of proof. Any other real tuning companies can confirm this. |

But the 174hp version produces peak power at 5800rpm and peak torque of 230 N·m (170 ft·lbs) @ 3500-5000. The 218hp version produces peak power at 6500rpm and peak torque of 250 N·m (184 ft·lbs) @ 2750-4250. So in theory even with a 6500 rev limit they both should have 218hp. Also the 218hp produces 14 ft-lbs more torque at 750rpm lower. Why? There must be some other variances between the 2 motors.

You can't just add figures like that...I'd be surprised if you get 20hp. That's being extremely optimistic.

Real OEM is slightly confusing when it comes to the intake manifold for the euro 323i. I have a Z4 2.5i with the same motor as the 323i - 177bhp 2.5l n52. Our engine actually only has a two stage intake manifold as standard, it only has the DISA adjuster unit on the front of the manifold (the visible one). The location of what would be the second DISA is blanked out with no way of retrofitting.
I wanted to get to 325i power levels (or 2.5si levels in the case of the Z4) so I've installed the three stage manifold, now I just need a remap. The three stage manifold works fine without a remap and the car appears to be very slightly more powerful. If I accellerate lightly through the full rev range I can feel a slight surge in power at around 3500rpm and 4300rpm so I know that both DISA's are working. From what I gather the remap needs to primarily raise the rev limit and also the high rpm valve lift to achieve the power levels of the 325i. Last edited by Fraser-Z4; 08-20-2011 at 06:47 PM.. |

Bringing up an old, possibly dead thread, but does anyone have any figures or facts for the Japanese version 323i e90 2007?
But as Fraser-Z4 was saying, I too feel the surge of power after 3500rpm... I have tried searching, and no one has ever really covered the Jap version, always EU or CA versions of the 323i... |

Did OP get his tune done? Can he post results?
I have a Canadian 323i (2.5L I6, 200HP) and I'm curious to know what type of potential is out there. Thanks! |

I talked to Andrew at active autowerke and he said he has tuned many Euro 325i's with the 218bhp engine. He said in theory he could apply a base tune from those engines to our north american models and begin the tuning from there. I am going to dyno test this when I get some more money. Anyone who has the ability to do it now can contact him and try.

Anyone with any results/dyno firgures for 323i engines converted with the 3stage intake? I have been looking intensively but nothing, though to confirm what Fraser-Z4 said, I do too have a 2stage intake as standard and the 2nd DISA unit location is blocked off.
Picked up a 3stage last night, waiting for delivery now!
