Flat spot in powerband
Hi all,
Bit of a strange one although might be an easy diagnosis for some of the gurus on here. Was coming off the slip road onto a motorway today giving it some welly and noticed a small flat spot in the powerband between 2.5k-3k. Very momentary and disappeared almost as soon as it had appeared, but have tried similar acceleration under full load after and noticed it once or twice again. Doesn't happen every time either. MAF? Plugs? Engine only has 31k on it and plugs were changed at 29k. Thanks, MG

Since I don't know if his car has injectors (!!) and that CDV is a more likely issue that causes these symptoms (!!!!!!), I said CDV. |

Do you have an N55? I have noticed this as we'll, particularly in 2nd gear. It flattens for maybe a half second or so, then it's fine. I don't really notice it in any other gears.

To everyone else, I don't think it is the CDV, problem has occurred when I've been in gear not immediately after changing. If it's injectors do you think I'll get away with sticking some Redex in a couple tanks of fuel? Thanks again lads.

Cleaning the injectors wouldn't be a bad thing to do at all. If you want to get really thorough, you can take out your injectors to get them cleaned with a ultrasonic injector cleaner (it basically vibrates hem really really fast). But you'll be out of a car for the duration of the cleaning, depending on if you need to ship them somewhere.

Considering using Terraclean if it might be an injector problem. Anyone has experience of this service?
