No, you do not need to run e85 to run the update. Definitely recommend it, the car pulls much better (and smoother)

I'm pretty sure you need the update once the wires are installed.

Are there any cons to the ISO mod?

Per Terry on n54tech... "Map 0 is no longer a true pass through map. It disables the JB4 and targets 7psi across the board. On map 0 the car will drive and operate normally, can be taken to the dealer, reflashed, etc. But heavy throttle runs on map 0 will result in boost oscillation, uneven acceleration, and possibly an underboost code. Map 4 targets OEM boost values and should be used for dyno comparisons, driving around stock, etc."

If you consider that a con, then that's about it. I also know that since it draws a little more power it conflicted with my P3 vent gauge when it was polling the canbus, but running an analog line for it fixed the issue.

So, map 4 is now the new map 0, and map 0 is an underpowered version of the current map 0?

Sounds that way, yes. Except now map 4 runs OEM target boost but leaves CAN active (auto-delete, etc.) Just avoid going WOT multiple times if on map 0 and you'll never know it's not a 328 while it's not throwing codes

Hmm... Looks to me that map 0 is just the "bring to dealership" map. Lol

I hate bumping this thread, but I figure it's better than starting a new one. Is this kind of PSI okay to run on a car with no downpipe? It seems so tempting but I'm concerned about the backpressure on the turbo running that much boost through stock downpipes.

Can e85 be run without downpipes safely?

What about Map 7, with race gas, is that OK?

Map 5 is fine without e85. It adjusts to whatever you have in the tank and atmospheric conditions, etc.

I don't think you can run map 7 with race gas unless you have some kind of downpipe. It targets 16.5 psi at all times, which probably isn't good without one. Definitely don't use it without a charge pipe, but you can email Terry for a firm answer.

I do have DP, Charge Pipe and Intake. I think I'm pretty much safe with mods. My question was more towards the ISO modification itself, on what impact, if any, to map 7.

Thanks anyways. I guess I should have been more specific. (Even though my signature has all my mods DETAILED, LOL!!)

From what I have been told about map7...
you need FBO + an equivalent of 100oct. at all times.

I could be wrong though...

Every blue moon I like to switch to map7 for a couple pulls, and it feels AWESOME!

I think ISO is my next mod after reading all of this

All that is required for you the run map 7 is 100 octane race gas.

And a charge pipe or else you'll likely find yourself a victim of BMW engineering's physical tuner detection group (boom goes the plastic). They invite you with a nice limp mode symbol, quite the party haha

can someone help me a little with ISO settings?
I cant find auto shift damper or default wastegate settings options...
Or is auto shift damper = PID Damper?
and Default Wastegate = Wastegate Adaption Value?

Upgrade your software to the latest version. Listed on the n54 iso thread on n54 tech forum. It has all of the values you're talking about by name.
