Question KW v3 Coilovers not adjustable in the rear?

Hey guys,

So i bought my car in November 2014. I hit a pothole and destroyed my strut. Long story short the cars getting fixed as we speak and I was going to have buddies dad who owns a BMW repair shop lower the car a little bit more for me so i can get a more aggressive look. He lowered the front then after further investigation in the rear there was no way of adjusting the ride height. Does this make sense? He said they are KW's in the rear just no adjustable and i know they are v3 at least in the front cause thats the part number we got from the bad strut. Any information is cool.

Thanks for checking it out

There's an adjustable perch right on the spring. On the front, it's one unit where the spring is on the strut itself. On the rear, the spring is separate, but it's definitely adjustable. All BMW coilovers adjust the same way pretty much.

I know the spring is seperate in the rear but he said he couldnt find the adjustment and hes been working on BMW's for 25+ years. I wondered if the previous owner put a different set of KW's in the rear than in the front but i would think even the v1 are ride height adjustable. I'm just confused cause you would think that for 2500$ suspension it should be able to be adjusted.

Makes no sense, unless the previous owner didn't use the perch for some ridiculous reason - and just nested the spring in the cap. I'm no suspension guru, but that would be my guess. Could be entirely wrong though.

Have the guy take pictures of the rear spring and how it's fitted. Then you'll have a definitive answer.

Did he forget to put the adjuster on? should just be a threaded adjuster on top of the rear spring:

Yeah, if there's no adjuster in there, you would be very, very low. It would be noticeable unless the previous owner got a longer spring put in and then pull the adjuster which doesn't make any sense at all.

Why not just ask the guy to take pictures while the car is on the lift?
