Had this happen in Minnesota he called my home state north Dakota at the time to make Sure it was illegal there also then told me I have a choice 120 for the ticket or I can peel it off the tint cost me 100. So I asked him I will just take the ticket he said well I could just pull you over again. I peeled it off on the side of the road. That guys was an @sshole.

If I'm not mistaken, I don't think they can give you a second ticket like that. You are given a certain amount of time to take the tint off.

That guy sounds like a HUGE a**hole though.

Baffled, I ask whats wrong (My car is completely stock, not one mod yet). He get a little machine and measures my window, and it reads 35. And tells me that has to be 70. I look at him confused, roll up my window, and point to the sign that says BMW. You know the one that tell it's stock. He totally ignores it and gives me a $120 ticket.

I don't even know who I'm mad at more. The dealer for selling me an illegal car (I'm in Iowa), or the cop that doesn't care it's stock, or gives me a warning, just a ticket.

Check this out....

Im in Iowa too. Have had most my cars tinted and only pulled over once by a state trooper. Seems to be when they dont have anything else to do because Ive been next to them on a stop light. Been thinking about tinting my new e93 but havent decided yet. Seems like that law and the front plate law are totally unnecessary!

That happened to me once too. I was going to a tech school in some shit town in PA, I was registered in IN. Anyway I thought I would fight the ticket this dike cop gave me; unfortunately that small town had a dike judge too.
I was a student not a resident of the state. I don't see the difference between myself and someone traveling through the state... I couldn't wait to get the hell out of that shit town and the state of PA...

This. I grew up in Davenport. Police in Iowa had nothing better to do then besides pull over cars with dark tints. I got 3 window tint tickets on my camaro back in the day. They don't have a lot else to keep them busy there... At least that's how it was then, not too far distant past

So what happens if you get multiple tickets on the same vehicle for tint? My husband got 1 last August by a DSM cop and then I got one yesterday from the lovely State Patrol? After you get so many does something happen? Thanks.

Yes, you slowly realize (or should) that dark tints are illegal and that you either remove them or stop b!tching about the tickets.

tint ticket should be a fix - it - tickets. meaning you can remove them and pay only about 10$ in admin fee to the station. read the ticket and see whether the box is checked that says "correctable" you should save some money that way

Reading this thread makes me happy that I live in a state with fairly generous tint laws. 25% front windows, and anything we want on the rest (except the front windshield of course).

When I bought my car it had something like 10% all around, and the dealer had to remove it and install legal tint before they let me take delivery, because it wouldn't pass inspection. Good deal for me, because the original tint job was fairly shady looking, and I was planning on having it replaced it myself anyway.

It's probably not worth ruining your relationship with the BMW dealership over $112 ticket.
