Changed to M-Sport front/rear bumpers

Hey guys

Here is my M-sport/m-tech conversion. Needed a new rear bumper for my obviously non-msport e90 (backed into another vehicle - oops). Found an e90 member selling a front and rear with rear guides and front liners and brake ducts so I scooped it all up.

Big shout out to psmitty95. Followed his posts about the conversions and what's needed.

Since the e90post member I bought the parts from already had everything I went ahead with the install. This is important. I used different part numbers than psmitty95. I don't have the oil cooler. The brake ducts I used didn't have the split on the right for the oil cooler and the corresponding wheel liner didn't have the large hole that psmitty had to buy a cover for. Here are the part numbers I ended up using:

Front Left duct: 51747891379
Front right duct: 51747891380
Left lower cover: 51717892801
Right lower cover: 51717892802
Right and left rear msport bumper guides: 51127906505, 51127906506
These were bought online from getbmwparts.com (OEM parts)

I took some pics of the stock parts and the new parts. Everything lined up perfectly with the bumpers that were purchased from jgmods. Had the bumpers painted at a local shop.

Left stock break duct on right vs new duct:

I honestly think the stock parts would have worked for the covers because they looked the same but the brake ducts definitely looked different on the end that would line up with the bumper.

Everyone knows the msport rear guides are different but not that much. Since I bought everything in a package deal I used them. If you were trying to decide I can see how many trying to do this can get away with the stock guides.

On to install pics.

A few things. I had to reuse most of the metal clips from the old bumper. The new didn't have any. Also I used clips from the old fog lights for the new fogs. Didn't have any instructions. Sat there for about 15-20 minutes with my bro-in-law trying to figure it out. Went with H11 to 9006 wiring harness to convert new bumper fogs to stock wiring harness. Here is what I got: http://www.ebay.com/itm/231196878968...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Also when installing grills on new bumper, had to push quite a bit to get them to snap in place. Did not use one of the grill mounts. Couldn't figure out how it went in place.

Jacked up front end, put on jacks and took front rims off. Don't try to do this without doing that.

Front bumper comes off easily. Used this guide: http://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/tech...eplacement.htm

Right new duct and cover (bro-in-law drinking more than helping!)

Went to install everything back up. A few spots on the liner covers did have holes drilled so had to do this before placing the metal clips.

Screwing underneath the bumper where it meets the plastic underbody cover: It doesn't match up perfectly but pretty close. Just need to drill some holes on the new bumper.

Final look compared with old stock base bumper:

Old (hood unlatched):

On to the rear:
Used the pelican parts guide to remove the old.

It's not easy removing without breaking a few tabs. Since I didn't care I just pulled. I guess you could pull a bit and use a screwdriver to pry it out.

Then just take off old guides, put on new and re-install new bumper.

Again the new bumper didn't have the metal clips so had to use some from the old. Some of the holes didn't exactly line up so I actually didn't use all of the screws but I can't see this thing falling off so I didn't worry.

Need a proper photo shoot.

Lastly before all of you tell me I need a drop, I know!! I'm working on that!!

Thanks for all the help psmitty95 and e90post!!

What about the middle of the bumper? How did that meet the centre of the plastic tray? I have been told that you normally need to get an adapter that lines up the holes properly?
