I'm running the single log BMS filter and thinking of getting the MFD scoops I was curious as to if they're worth purchasing? Any benefits? Thanks appreciate the help.

unless you're talking about when it rains? i never drive my car in the rain though (too low)

A little off topic, but how long have you had your filter and how do you clean it?

I washed mine after having it for 5k miles, and it's still pretty dark...you can't tell it used to be purple/pink.

I don't like the idea of that filter being in that heat soaked location, so I am really considering either buying some sort of cold air system, or buying those scoops... when the engine bay gets hot, you might be losing some power since very hot air (a lot less dense) will be just as bad as the restricted stock system.
When temps get around 75+, the car falls flat on it's face.
When temps get to low 50's at night, the car feels like it just gained 20whp.

For the price they are a good mod. I think when you have a DCI setup, the extra air that goes into the engine can't be a bad thing

I clean mine with the k&n recharge kit every 7.5k miles

And im in Houston, a city known Super hot temps of 90+ and humid days. So would a DCI cause the car to heat soak faster than normal especially with my aggressive driving style.

That's a fair question, but with all of these folks running scoops I have yet to see a thread about someone overheating because of them.

What will cause your car to heat soak is the stock FMIC (if you haven't upgraded), especially in the hot Houston summer weather. Get that bad boy upgraded!

yah your fkn right man. Its such a necessary upgrade. I was runnin map 7 with 93 octane only and i wasnt really pulling timing (atleast that im aware of) but i backed down to map 5 just in case. I dont think im gonna run map 7 until i get a FMIC or till cooler temps come. 60s and below. and 60s and below doesnt happen in Houston til around OCT sometimes even NOV. I got DPs ordered but i promised myself my next mods are adding FMIC upgrading the oil cooler and the radiator.

They may suck in debri, bugs and heaps of dust? Could potentially cause engine bay fire (extreme case)

I got the DCI and the scoops and it's fine. I had them since March, and it's great. The filter for the DCI is kinda dirty though, I think I need to get new ones, or wash them. Throttle response seems to be better with the DCI set up. Feels the same with the scoops at lower speeds, but once i get 40+, I can feel it pull harder. It's too effing hot too early this year.

with as hot as its been here in Houston, I'd get on the Helix intercooler group buy! Maybe we can all get together and do a group install too. As for scoops, I'd be careful with the amount of rain we get in Houston. Your better off with an upgraded oil cooler and intercooler.

Also do a brake duct mod. I did this mod over a year ago when I still had the hvi intake. I've seen/felt air flow thru it into the engine bay before on a windy day with the hood opened and me standing there watching. The other night after driving the car for about an hour, popped the hood and touched a few areas near the dci, it was almost cold as the fender and front bumper. Then i touched the other side to see the difference, and I wasnt surprised at all when the other side was hot. I would say about 20 deg difference. Could be more, could be less.

i've got MFD scoops last year. in a recent trip to GA, and SC, at times i was pushing the car pretty hard in 92 degree road temp. (car temp reading over the blacktop) i had no temp issues w/ the car. oil temps ran around 220, 230.
my 335 has the sport package so i do have an oil cooler. also Helene drop in filter. but there are so many MFD and other scoops out there, and i have not heard ANYONE have high temp issues.

anybody have different info, please chime in. thanks.

Because of the air flow differences between a dyno fan and road speed, it's difficult to quantify. I've seen butt dynos that say there is a difference. I don't put much stock in butt dynos.

Except for your wallet, it probably couldn't hurt.
