Question mismatched kidney grilles on CPO, what the?

So i bought a 08 e92 black CPO from a dealer in Brooklyn. I have been at school with the car and finally was home to wash it by hand. I noticed looking at the car the grilles are different. The driver side grille has chrome trim and chrome slits or dividers, however the passenger side grille has chrome trim BUT black slits or dividers.

Not sure why this is, it isnt supposed to be like that right? In the sun from a distance it looks like I'm missing one of the grilles so it looks stupid. Probably going to just buy an OEM one and replace it. Anyone ever have this problem or is this how it was supposed to be? Figured no mods if the car was CPO.

Also anyone know where i can get a cheap chrome OEM, i found one (single side) for $53 thought that was a good price.
thanks in advance

Photo coming soon (hard to tell unless u look at it in sufficient lighting)

the dealer sucked and its pretty far, it will cost well over $53 to drive there with the bridges and gas and all that, if i were to paint it, the slits would be black with a chrome outline so i would have to paint it all, not a bad idea, cheaper than buying new grille or grilles.

If this dealer is in Brooklyn, I have an idea of who it is. You shouldnt have to deal with this and they shouldn't be selling you a car in this condition... Maybe you can have them mail you the right OEM grill.

Certification process whether it's a Toyota or a BMW or a Mercedes is all effin POS...

The only advantage of a CPO car is the warranty even that is a friggen joke..

Two years ago bought a CPO '06 E55 with 17,000 and since i wasn't happy with it,this time i bought a CPO '07 530i..

All i will say is,i am done with this STUPID CPO CRAP.....

Drive it through the plate glass window right into the showroom, and tell them to validate your $9.60 and $8 bridge tolls as well

Really?? Because I love that my car is CPO. I've had the water pump replaced at 60K and window regulators replaced at 55K under the CPO program. Cost me $50 each time, including towing through BMW Assist for the pump. Can't imagine how much all those would have cost me if I didn't have CPO.

OP, call the dealership, send them a picture via email, and insist they mail you the correct grille. 328 grilles have chrome on the outside with black plastic slats in the center. Good luck!

I just emailed the sales rep that i dealt with, btw it was life quality bmw, pretty ironic with the name, anything but quality. I suggested that they mail me the one kidney grill i need and i can install it myself. Better than dealing with them again and wasting a day.

Sounds like you have one kidney grill from a 328i and one from 335i. 328i has black slits and 335i has chrome slits.

If you're looking to save some cash...each of the grilles unclips into 2 pieces--the chrome surrounds, and the black plastic piece with the slats.

You could unclip the chrome surround from the driver's side grille, take some sandpaper, and just sand down the chrome from the piece with the slats revealing black plastic.

Or alternatively, if you're looking to spend some cash...wait for a used set of OEM Performance Gloss Black grilles comes up FS (~$80) or buy new ($100-110) as they are definitely a worthwhile upgrade, especially on a black car

I purchased a cpo and when washing discovered one of the wheels was from the 09 coupe instead of sedan. Dealership took a few weeks but replaced wheel, the thought was it was an errror at the factory.

Here are a few pics, one of both grilles, and then one of each to show the comparison. (iphone camera in the parking garage, not the best example but thats all i have now)

pic 1: black slits
pic 2: chrome slits
pic 3: black on left, chrome on right

hard to tell from these pics but in the sunlight, the sun reflects off the chrome and not off the black therefore it looks like its missing. Put a call into the dealer and no answer/call back as of yet (not surprising). A friend driving by the car texted me asking me if i was missing a grille and i had no idea what he was talking about but now i know.
