335i Sedan Lease - Good deal?
Hello,
Just about to buy a 335i sedan and could use your help ... Car is an '07 with Sport, Premium, AT, fold-down seats, and paddle shifters. MSRP is about $46.5K. Deal they're offering is $650 a month plus tax and tag for 36 months with 0 due at signing. Is this a good deal? I thought it would be a bit lower like $600 plus tax and title. |

It's not the best deal. I got the same car for 650 tax included. But that includes the tire and wheel guarantee as well as 2k more in options. What money factor and selling price are they giving you? How many miles per year?

Here is what you need to include if you want to know if you're getting a good deal:
MSRP: $46.5k Negotiated Price for the car: Less MSRP I hope Term: you got that 36 months Miles per year: ? Residual value: ? (this is the value of the car after the lease) Interest Rate or Money Factor: ?

yeah, that's what I thought. Only 10K miles per year ... I lost my sheet with the money factor and sales price but it looks like there was plenty of fat in their someplace one way or the other.
Anyway, this is exactly what I needed to know. Thanks. Btw, did you get comfort access on your car? |

Yes I did. I think it is a nice option. Not a must to have, but it really should be standard.
BTW, you may want to play a bit with this calculator and I'm sure you can figure out what your MF and residual are. http://www.leaseguide.com/calc.htm

Here is the deal I got a few weeks ago though I ordered the car and locked in on rates in March ...
335i, Monaco blue, beige, comfort acces, ipod adapt, premium, nav. PDC, step, cold weather pkg, comfort access (might be more options but I don;'t remember exactly) MSRP was a drop under $49k 24 month, 10k miles $3150 upfront (taxes, fee, ist pay, security) $575 a month (24 month lease) Rates went up a few dollars, I think about $15 to $20 a month but anyway that was my deal. Car is freakin awesome, I love it, couldn't be happier |

Look at my sig. I'm getting that vehicle, which is a MSRP of 50225. For a 12000 mile/36 month lease, I'm paying $565.00 with taxes included. I did the 8 MSDs, and nothing down.

I'd go to www.bimmerfest.com/forums. There's tons of info there regarding leasing, etc., including the latest money factors, residuals, etc.
MSD=multiple security deposits. Basically, take your monthly payment and round to the next $50 (e.g. $501 would be $550, $499 would be $500, etc.). That is one security deposit. You are allowed to use 7 additional security deposits, along with your required security deposit (unless you've used BMW financial services before, in which the required one isn't required). For every additional security deposit, you can reduce your money factor (think loan %) by .00007. So, the current lowest MF BMW can offer you on a 335 sedan is 0.00175 before using MSD - this is called the base rate. Using 7 security deposits, you can have a MF of 0.00126 [(base rate - (7 x .00007)]. Some dealers, however, will attempt to increase the base rate, especially if you're a first time buyer. I'm a first time buyer, and I got 0.00126. At the end of your lease, you will get your security deposits back. It makes much more financial sense than doing a down payment. Never do a down payment on a lease. Never. If you have a wreck with a lease, you lose your down payment. With MSD, you get your money back. Hope this helps. Again, do some more searching on this forum, and especially bimmerfest. Feel free to ask me anything if you're still cloudy on anything. Leasing can be confusing, and that's just what the dealership intended.

This is great. I REALLY appreciate you taking the time to fill me in. I'm a returning customer with excellent credit, so do you think the base rate would be a reasonable assumption here? |

I would shoot for the base rate. The more informed you present yourself, I think the more likely you can get what you ask for. Invoice for my vehicle was like $46600. My final price, including dealer profit, doc fee , MACO fee, etc was like $47300. While not the absolute best deal I've ever seen, it's a really good deal. Depending on you agent, you may or may not be able to get things your way. If things aren't going in the direction you'd like, I'd always consider purchasing from another dealership. You can always use your local one for service, etc.

It also varies state to state. What are the FLA taxes? Are they added to the monthly payment. In PA, you must add 9% to the base monthly payment. So, if your monthly payment is $500, you have to add $45 to it.

I paid the taxes upfront +$575 (1st payment) + $600 security plus $600 acq fee ... total came out to $3150 but in the end I only had to give $2650 because the dealer gave me $500 off due to a delay at the VPC ... No cap reduction ... hope this helps !! |

It was an order ... they didn't have anything I wanted on the lot or incoming since it seems a lot of 3 series aren't ordered with some of the stuff I got like PDC and at that time the I pod adaptor was only a factory option on March plus production and I also wanted the new memory buttons that now come when you order the Nav |
